While doing press for Little Fockers, Robert DeNiro confirmed that not only would Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman be coming to fruition, but also likely begin filming next year, with Joe Pesci and Al Pacino in tow. During an interview with MTV (via ThePlaylist) he star was quoted as saying “We have a very good script that Steven Zaillian wrote, and that we’re definitely doing.” We reported that the director enthusiastically talked about the financing coming together with the plans to shoot next year (2011)

You'd think him and Pacino would play Italians ...

De Niro's father was of Italian and Irish descent, and his mother was of German, French, and Dutch ancestry.

Pacino's always been a bit of a ham actor, but DeNiro and Pesci in one last Marty film will be excellent.

that's an incredible amount of acting talent in those three names, plus one of the best directors in the business still. they'd have to work hard to make this film suck - the awesomeness would just flow naturally.
