Obviously you know a lot more about the situation, but just to clarify:

He wants to play, but doesn’t really want to train? So he feels like a place in the side is a right, and not a privilege?

It just makes it harder to understand considering he’s only down to training on a very limited basis, time granted away to train on his own and all that. If that was the case, surely he’d want to get down to training more and more each week, until he’s full time again and ready for selection.

The fact that the opposite is happening tells me it’s already completely over.

I started writing something very similar but didn't post (That's not at all to say that you shouldn't have!).

I definitely agree, but addiction is a funny thing.
Sure, the social media posts are all smiles, but I can certainly see a world where he feels lonely, lost, sad, angry...

A spiral (be it up or (more often of course) downwards) can be very hard to pull out of.

There's a very real chance that he wants to play footy, but the dopamine keeps saying, "hit me!".

(100% agree, that there has to come a point where we cut ties tho).

Been saying for years that Marra looks lazy and often uninterested at times on the field. I was also routinely branded as racist for making these observations.
The irony is that your observations were colour blind, some blokes just don't work hard enough, but your accusers were the racists, concentrating on race rather than footy.

Can we just have a list of the 10,000 things that haven’t happened, to limit the options down but still keep a bit of juicy interest

There’s one old chap who sits in my aisle who has been bashing Jamarra for years over his intensity or lack thereof.

I took great delight in rubbing it in when Jamarra started firing up last year.

For possibly the first time in the years if been sitting with this otherwise clueless supporter he unfortunately had a point.
