Great news. Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery. Hope he turns his life around regardless of whether he ever plays for us again.

Yep, I’d be stoked if he came back to play for us. I’ll back him 100% unless we actually hear something from his camp saying he wants out. I would hate to watch him play for another club.

Yeah it does appear a long shot but if that occurred Marra would become even stronger than before. Obi wan after letting Darth take him, Gandalf after beating the balrog

If he is checking into a clinic to get his health back on track, so as to play football again it is the turning point we have been hoping for.

Agree with much you state but he needs to do this health clinic things to get his health back on track for himself so as he can get himself right regardless of whether this leads to playing footy again

He goes to get himself well not to play footy (that may happen) but to get himself back on track as a human for the benefit to him and those closest to him

One thing that I believe that he will have to decide and confront is is he willing to change the people he has as company recently and now ( i speak from experience)

Alternatively he shows up straight off the back of a six day bender and kicks 18 in the VFL, causing St Kilda to fall over themselves offering us a suite of first rounders and we mutually part ways.

There's serious doubts he will ever play AFL again. I can't even begin to tell you how extremely unlikely it is he reaches the same heights he previously had and there's literally zero percent chance he ever becomes the player he was touted to become when he was drafted.

Im not saying that the two situations are in any way analogous. I have no idea why he's gone to a a wellness retreat. For all I know he could be there to have his chakras realigned. Or just to commune with nature on the lovely central coast.

But let's be real. If Ben Cousins can resurrect his playing career from the depths that he plummeted and then to eventually going on to the media career that he currently has in Perth. Then it's ridiculous to suggest that JUH at 23 is lost to the game.

I don't believe for a minute that other clubs wouldn't be interested in JUH if he decides to return to the game and is looking for a a fresh start away from the Bulldog's. Clubs are nothing if not opportunists who like to rise to the challenge of fixing a somewhat wayward player. Especially one with the talent of JUH. Personally, I think if he does return it'll be with the dogs.

Otherwise he'd have his management whispering his displeasure to a willing media pack about the club, something that we just haven't heard.

I agree - let's be realistic.

The best way to do that is probably to find a case where something similar has happened. Can you think of another highly touted key forward who went off the rails and after some time and some straightening up went on to become the leagues number one key forward? Refer to the 2024 Coleman Medal - and Jesse was FAR further down the track than Jamarra is.

Also - please for the love of Bont, don't misuse the word literally.

"If" is not "likely", which therefore is not necessarily optimism.
But if he does play AFL again, he only needs to be the third guy. Nobody is getting near Sam Darcy.
