I want Jamarra playing for us again, first and foremost, but if we find out he’s been “in talks” with another club, while on leave to recover his health, like someone else we know, I will be very angry.

Just don’t think that’s JUH style

He has never really made any adverse comments about the club or teammates

Gut fill is if he wants play he wants to play for us knowing he will need to build bridges but that will be an issue anywhere

Players is the other bigger issue

Heard Libba speaking last week don’t think he was overly enthused by how the process has played out with him so far

Why ? He played 4 - 5 games last year anywhere near approaching star billing, his 4th year with the Club ! If he wants to play for our Club, train, get fit, earn the spot, then perform and that includes defensive skills. Otherwise, who cares ?

A 19 year old lad has died from the RunIt ‘sport’ Jamarra has been helping popularise on Instagram. Absolutely stupidity from anyone involving themselves in that shit.

We had to trade up to match a #1 bid for him. Yeah, sunk cost and all that, I know. But wouldn't we be wanting to get the most out of that investment if there's still a small chance that he might get back on track? Or are you happy to shrug shoulders, chuck it away and say we have to start all over again?

Naturally making it back onto the active list would involve all the other stuff you've listed ... train/get fit/earn a spot/perform/defend. I would add "win trust" as another.

But having put several years into him as an NGA teenager, then stumped up a mountain of draft points to be able to match the #1 bid, then develop him through his early years on the senior list ... to have another club waltz in and pick him up cheaply would hurt. Especially if he really does mature and become the Coleman winning star he always seemed destined to be.

How so?

It was a great 4 game stretch agreed but he doesn’t offer the marking prowess nor accuracy of a Darcy nor does he have the flexibility to play in the ruck or put pressure on like Buku
Because he's an all-around natural forward who has enough balance in taking marks, winning his own ball and getting into the right spots.

In 2024, he had the 5th most shots on goal in the league (99). He was 22. Rank 1-4 were aged, 30, 31, 29, 27. Ranks 6-10 were 24, 30, 30, 26 and 27 years old.

In 2023, he was 8th in most shots on goal (93), aged 21. The top 7 were aged 26, 33, 30, 29, 30, 29 and 25, proving that players tend to peak in their late 20s.

Yes his goalkicking is a bit off, but I'd much rather a bloke who is a clear outlier at generating shots where goalkicking accuracy can be improved over a career than trying to find random improvement in all-around talent other than accuracy, h is far less likely to randomly improve.

It would be silly to take a player who generates half as many shots just because they offer more forward pressure (debatable if they really do) or if playing in the ruck offers any positive value given Darcy plays in the ruck too.

His marking is only a means to an end to generate shots (largely), so who cares that he doesn't have "prowess" when the overall impact of his attempts to mark or not mark in forward line eventually leads to shot generation anyway?

There is not overstating of Jamarra, there is understating (the earlier point, which is correct), and it's a credit to the team of how well they're playing, not just in a unify the team distraction sense, but in a literal, we're a worse team without him in our forward line, compounded by not having Weightman in there too.

It’s the equivalent of Bont promoting playing chicken in cars…if you want a half-decent analogy.

I’m not blaming JUH for the lad’s death, of course. It is a ridiculously dangerous activity to be involved in though. You look at the hoops the AFL are jumping through to minimise their liability for serious injuries. This ‘sport’ does the exact opposite.

As an investment, off load asap, any investment consultant would so advise. If a bloke doesn't ant to play with our club, let him loose. He won't be the first nor the last.

I think Bailey and Jamarra have the same problem. One has been able to control his attraction to it and is playing great footy the other turned into addiction and more than likely finished his career.

Ridiculous comment.
People don't purposely have contests where they have head ons at high speed driving cars to determine a winner. Um, heads up, they're called accidents what you are saying.
Those idiots purposely smash into each other as hard and fast as they can in Runit.

Surely no other club comes for him this year with any offer of significance?

Guessing most will want to see how the rehab pans out and potentially how he goes next year with us if he gets back to playing. If the return goes well trading for him OOC at end of 26 becomes easier and less of a risk.

Someone will offer us a low ball if it looks like Marra is back on track. Like flies to a carcass looking for a free feed...

I haven’t looked at what he has posted lately…seems he’s gone a lot quieter on socials but he did put something up about getting help and admitting that you need it which was either a positive sign or someone telling him he needs to do that stuff to win back trust and show he’s getting help

I believe posting social media updates from rehab is strongly discouraged. Or will get you kicked out. It's a private & confidential environment.
