He's 22 years old, he's an adult . If I had invested all the money I'd pissed away between the ages of 18 & 28 I'd be Gina Reinhardt. Of course I didn't have an agent . Maybe every 21 year old in the land should be assigned an agent .

My hunch would be that people within the club are trying to save him from his demons, not save his footy career . I feel the same , I don't care about his game. I hope he comes out of this disaster unscathed.

Yes, a disaster of his own making. But as much as we like to think we're creatures of perfect free will & choice, we aren't. If that was the case we wouldn't be 10kg overweight, or had a few drinks too many last week , or yelled at our kids, or spent too long playing World of Warcraft and forgot to put the bins out...

1 in 7 Aussies are on antidepressants.

I have compassion for him, because I know what looks like fun on social media isn't always a big old laugh. And will get less & less fun as the years roll on.
Bevo mentioned (on FC) there are third parties involved in looking after Jamarra. He made the point that club resources have to stretch to all 43 other players as well.

Working with people who have severe substance abuse issues means listening to someone say "Im going to change , it will be ok this time , I've worked it out, " - until when Friday night rolls around and they get a call from old mate down the pub. Then it starts all over again.

The issue with the Jamarra situation is beautifully demonstrated by the division created in this thread alone.

We all have our own values and all have an opinion on JUH based on those values.

These differences in opinion creates friction on here so can you imagine the problems it’s creating within the playing group and board etc!?.

Good point.

  • There will be players on the list who couldn’t give a shit what he (or anyone else does), provided he turns up for training and kicks a bag every now and again on game day.
  • There will be others who think whatever he’s doing is an atrocious standard to set for young players, and that it’s affecting the culture.
  • Some will be disappointed at any double standards if he can get away with behaviour that less talented players couldn’t.
  • A few may even be hoping he burns his bridges because it makes it more likely they get a game instead.
  • And hopefully a large chunk of them have genuine concern for their teammate if it looks like he’s going off the rails.

Most will probably have a variation/combination of the above plus lots more nuanced thoughts and opinions.

I hope the boys play well tonight and our board can park this for a day or two.

Rumour is that Jamara has regularly been popping over to the Ukraine to fight on the frontline for Russia.

I'm told he's a big Putin fan and this is causing friction with the playing group who, to a man, are Zelenskyy fans.

Some go as far back with Zelenskyy as being early fans of his stand up comedy.

Don't question my values or ethics, I just have big enough kahunas to tell it like it is publically.

You're right. This board is a microcosm of society as a whole.

Its no wonder the world is in the state its in.

I wonder if this were to be Bevo's last season would that alter JUH wanting to stay or go

The first is step is to say my name is XX and a have addiction to xxxx. Unless you can tell yourself you have a problem there is no chance. Not sure who the club has sourced to help him Gavin Corsica would be a possibly a good source. From footballer who had an addiction to Counseller who helps people with an addiction. .

Would love see JUH go from an AA group to an AA (All Australian footballer). It will be an almighty challenge but football ability will not stop him.

JUH clearly has some demons to deal with, but unlike Smith, if he is to play football I do believe it will be with us.

At the stage now where I am not worried about the media push of other clubs, more so whether he wants to be a professional footballer.

Up to him to make that decision and until he does he remains a bulldogs player
