Ralph on On The Couch basically said he’s with a friendship group that isn’t conducive to being a professional footballer. Dogs have tried to help him and both Franklin and Betts have attempted to help but Jamarra not interested.

I can understand ignoring Buddy, but ignoring Eddie Betts?! Close to my favourite non-Bulldog of all time, both on and off field.

If you're rejecting Bont AND Eddie... 😐

For the most part the media is being pretty good with the usual exceptions, but one thing thing I’ll say is whether it drags on or gets resolved this week it’s not embarrassing for the club at all. Embarrassing would be rushing him back in absent commitment to cover for Darcy.

Clubs been amazing in all this. Couple of journos have attempted to go the “first Dunkley, then Smith, now Jamarra” route but it’s fallen on deaf ears.

I am not suggesting for a second here that it's not a good thing that modern society is a lot more understanding with modern health, and I'm not ignoring the nature of being an Indigenous man from a rural community nor the good power than a union naturally has....

but you do wonder in what circumstance and if it's procedurally fair to still be earning that money when you're not fundamentally doing his job. The AFLPA and AFL don't want him not to be paid for the precedent etc. it creates but it must grate for him to be spending that money without maintaining the wording of his contract.

Don't be surprised if the AFL move to suspend his payments completely until he completes certain goals set out by both the AFL and the Dogs, as I've been told, this is something that is currently being worked out amongst AFL house, AFL PA, his management, and us. Very complicated, complex, and a first-time situation that I don't think we've ever seen before.

He will remain contracted, but without the financial benefit of the contract.

Completely de-registering him as a player is the last resort.

Stop enabling him, sounds like a good move.

This whole thing is just getting more and more sad the longer it drags out.

It sounds like the club, the afl and his management are all trying to get him back on track and instead he’s listening to his drop kick mates.

I like the idea of withholding his contract, as he will learn fast as the money dries up. That the idea of a 9-5 job isn't all that appealing. Willing to give him the year off and a chance to change.

I'm just curious to whether this "friendship" group is new, or whether he has grown around them? And what happened to that Jamarra who spoke big of his love for football, love for players like Franklin, and that he wants to be the next role model for indigenous kids? Are his "mates" in his ear telling him "stuff footy, drinking with us is better", kind of peer pressure? Or this entirely all of Marras own self inflicted doing, and he just can't be stuffed no more?

Herald Sun article on JUH today, little bit in there about the club wanting to change his financial circumstances to force behavioral change (ALFPA will be the roadblock to this).

This has been the main thing I’ve been trying to say on the Jamarra debacle. As much as it’s very paternalistic, but if you’re paying an addict big money you’re an ‘enabler’ to that addiction. The club has a duty of care to the young man to put his money in some sort of trust, to dry up his funds before he is left washed up, friendless and destitute.

BF ownership deem it so.
The real question is, who owns BF?
