I'm happy for us to still pay Jamarra next year to ensure he can't play AFL for another club. He can't just walk away from us, break his contract and then go play somewhere else and we get nothing. Imagine the precedent that sets... unhappy players like Oliver and Petracca could just refuse to show up for training until the club releases them from their contract and then go sign with Geelong. Great way to get out of a 7-10 year contract if you change your mind...

Feel like at this point Bevo would redraft Billy gowers before playing jamarra even if he was fit and ready to go

Sounds like he’s in denial or deluded.
What a player tells me vs what a club thoughts can always be opposite

Only reporting what I've been told from one side of this long drawn out story

Really hope he has communicated the same to the club & is putting a plan in place to rebuild the trust this year to be able to play for us again in 2026.

Just interested to know whether such a non compete clause is reflected in player contracts in any other major sporting competition around the world. It may be relatively common, and I will stand corrected. But it seems like the AFLPA is having a massive laugh here.
It's something from the clubs side, essentially assuring he wouldn't be able to keep our contract and expect to work for another club in any capacity simultaneously.

Even if Jamarra says that and believes it himself, I still doubt he will ever play for us again. I think that our club would be better off without the distraction. Even if he made it back, you never know when he's gonna disappear again.

Even if he were to go elsewhere as a DFA at the end of next year it's still crap for us because had he remained we would have got something for him in a trade, like Smith.

It's a dog act what he's done and I hope he's not welcomed back at the club again.

Zero sympathy particularly since he seems to have the motivation to train elsewhere.

Have to break my self-imposed thread ban to ask.

Having 50% of the money still being included in next years cap just penalises us further, but any chance this would be offset by any form of compensation pick under the circumstances?

Or do we need to just take it dry and say thanks very much afterwards?
Don't think we would be entitled to compo. End of the day it is really no different to drafting a young kid and delisting him after 3 years cos he doesn't have the talent.
Marra may have the physical talent to play the game, but it looks as if he doesn't have the phycological talent for the game.

If player managers weren't the source of 90% of footy stories then we might have actually seen some focus from the AFL media fraternity into the role of Jamara's management in this saga.

They walk away from this without an ounce of scrunity while still pocketing a sizable management fee for at least the next 18 months.

He’d have to harness Daniel Cross like standards of training for Bevo to even give it a 1% chance.

Just throwing my two cents in.
I know VitalDread has very regular real life contact with Jamarra and has for a very long time, if he says his info is coming directly from him, it is.
Also, I’ve had a fair few convos with Marras player sponsor who also speaks with him on the regular.

Marra has always maintained two things;
He wants to play AFL football and it’s for the Dogs.

As Bevo has said tho, his actions betray what he says.

Appreciate the insight and zero doubts from me that it’s come from Marra if VD said it has. It’s just whether Marra is giving lip service. Time will tell.

No doubt, just not inline with Bevos article stating the club/afl can’t even get a meeting with him. He needs to build bridges at the club before just assuming he can write this year off and just restart next year.
Hopefully both parties can get on the same page.

So what is stopping him?
