I would be ecstatic for Jamarra, if he just got back to playing football, full stop, even better with the Dogs. Imagine the journey he would have undertaken across these months, the resilience, courage and will to get there, and continually dealing with it for the rest of his life.
Of course. Frustrating and disappointing as it is for us supporters of the club, ultimately we have goodwill towards these special young men and want them to be the best people they can be.

id love to see him stay but dont underestimate the afl stepping in if he wants to go there

As it current stands his return to play has nothing to do with the Dogs, it's between him and the AFL. He has to tick off alot of boxes before the AFL will allow him to play anywhere, including with us.

He is certainly on the right path at the moment, attending rehab and staying very quiet on social media, but It'll be upto Dr Kate Hall to tick the final box that says he is allowed to return to playing.

I also think our players would receive him back with open arms, they would have had some education about addiction, and none of his social media postings were critical of the club or other players.

I don't think a change of club is what Jamarra needs to get on top of his substance addiction unless Bevo is his dealer.

Bevo is not one to give second chances once his mind is set on a player

This is why Jamarras future at the club should not be in his hands. A few years ago, it definitely would be.

If true that we’ve ruled out trading him this year, and that he’s playing footy for us or not at all in 2026, I suspect that’s Bains taking control of the situation.

Sacking Jamarra or trading him for a future fourth would do more harm than good to the club long term*

*Assuming Jamarra gets right and has a good career, which is by no means guaranteed

Last I spoke to an internal person at the Dogs about JUH the concensus is we won't be trading him unless it's some form of godfather offer.
Every performance Sydney dish out like they have been would be a step closer to a godfather offer. A forwardline of McLean, Amarty and McDonald is crap.

I think they’ll get pretty desperate if it keeps going like it is.

Best case scenario is Marra becomes a superstar for us, likes he’s shown he can be.

So glad Jamarra is contracted next year so we have some control over the situation. I doubt he's wanting to leave us but you know certain clubs would be getting in his ear about the benefits of a "fresh start".

Isn't Buddy apparently spending time with and helping him recently? The same Buddy that also recently said Sydney would be a good change for Marra. A Sydney trade request would not surprise me now.

Don’t mind a bit of baseless trade speculating for fun. They have an academy player this year that may attract a bid high enough to put their first round pick, currently #6, at risk. If he requested a trade to Sydney then would something like 6 + F1 for 12 & Jamarra turn our heads? I think it might. It may be though that his trade value is so in the toilet that a team like the Swans may think they could downgrade 6 to later picks for points and one of those will suffice for Jamarra.

Still in contract.

Offer would need to be pretty good, one would think.

There is some serious underrating of Jamarra's football ability going on here, seeingly because we dont like the life choices he's made. Last half of last season (final excluded) he was our best forward and we were pumping teams. If you think that player wouldnt help the team as it currently sits without Darcy or Weightman, you've got rocks in your head
How so?

It was a great 4 game stretch agreed but he doesn’t offer the marking prowess nor accuracy of a Darcy nor does he have the flexibility to play in the ruck or put pressure on like Buku

I think you're extremely overestimating what he would be worth in a trade, it'd be alot closer to 6 for 12 and Jamarra.

He has the best forward craft in the team (maybe on par with Weightman). He knows where to be and creates a strong option for the mids to kick to.

Regardless, we are without Darcy and Weightman currently. Naughton is down on form and Buku is a bit player (the pressure piece is hugely debateable). Im flabbergasted that you are seemingly suggesting we are a better team with Buku Khamis than JUH

I think West is showing more ‘forward craft’ than JUH and Weightman ever have. Hard to compare with Jamarra perhaps, but Weightman is fairly like-for-like. West knows when it’s his turn to fly and when to scurry in for the crumbs. Something Weightman is still to figure out, as much as I love him.

I don't mind if he requests a trade to Sydney. Unlike Smith and Dunkley, the contract status would allow us to negotiate a fair price.

The first part was just guessing on what an offer from Sydney that we couldn’t refuse might look like. Not what I think would be likely if he were to request a trade there.

Fair call. I don't think we'd be getting any offers we would jump at merely ones we may except with gritted teeth however I still feel it's incredibly unlikey he plays at another club next year.
Hopefully we get some clarity in the next month or so on how things are tracking.
