If he has simply been suspended (suggested above, and possible), there should be no issues with him coming back and resuming his career. All the rest of the noise has then been just that, noise. A lot of muddying of the waters.

Just a thought.
It certainly wasn't a suspension and there are many aspects that we can look at to explain this. If it were a suspension his hiatus from the club would have started off more cleanly rather then showing/no-showing training on a weekly basis. The club would've listed him with a bogus finger injury or something and the AFL would have killed the press on the matter to save face.

After his time up North he is itching at the bit to return to the club, train and play. Im told he is actually watching footy for the first time in years. He has met with the club (captain/Coach and a couple other figures) and they have ticked off his return to the club. The complications now arise around AFL approval to return to training because the Bulldogs passed the matter onto the AFL Dr's they are the ones that need to give him the all clear not the club Dr's (similar to what we see with repeat concussions).
Once he does return to the fold he will need to complete a 6 week mini pre season, which will be the same program he was given early in the season which he couldn't complete at the time. Once he is through that training block he will be cleared for selection.

Great news. If you look back at his Instagram, for years all he would post about was footy. If he’s found that passion again then that’s a huge step

6-week mini pre season even for VFL selection, or can VFL initially on reduced minutes be part of that training block in lieu of the traditional pre-season match sims.

Before VFL.
If he completed all of the requirements with that mini-preseason, and then returned for 2-3 VFL matches while performing very strongly, is there any possibility he might be considered for selection during an AFL finals series (if we were to progress)? Or would that simply be too disruptive and it's 2026 instead?

Anything is possible I suppose but I'd personally consider it very, very long odds

Nothing wrong with Loveless 28 games 72 goals two bags of 8 one of 7 kicked 44 in 1980 and 28 in 1981 from fewer games not required when Beasley was recruited a year later.
Loved watching Loveless play, could do anything when his mind was on it, plus the opposition backmen were scared of him.

I do not expect him to play AFL this season. We do not know if he will be accepted back by the coach and players this season or next and there is a fair chance him coming back to VFL is to allow him to play AFL again at another club most likely Sydney.

It is still in our interests for him to star at VFL even if it is to maximize trade value, so we do not get screwed again. If he stars at VFL level, we will want Sydney's first pick.

My preference is stars at VFL and we retain him in 2026.

If Buddy franklyn wants Sydney to get Jamarra why doesn't franklyn sticks his nose out of it
We don’t know that this is true, or if he is quoted of saying that, what the leading question would have been beforehand.

Me in the trenches all year defending him
From what I know Marra has not said a bad word about our club, in the face of fierce criticism and possibly some comments from supporters, he has not responded.

If he is checking into a clinic to get his health back on track, so as to play football again it is the turning point we have been hoping for.

I think some of you on here have forgotten what it is like to be young and make mistakes, either that or you were all perfect. 🙄

It would be really good to send him some messages of support and encouragement, and stop dwelling on the financial side of this.

Lastly, if Jesse Hogan is willing to mentor him, he would be a great fit.
You were not alone.

Team chemistry is vitally important and at this stage of the year, to bring Marra back may upset that. A fresh start to next season, after a solid pre-season, would seem to be a better move.

However, if all the stars align and they are willing to give him a go earlier, it may be worth a try.

Depends how we’re going.
I remember after the Essendon win, some of us were thinking our forward line is functioning pretty well without Darcy. After a couple losses, we are desperate to get him back in.

If Jamarra kicks 6+ goals in any VFL match, I will eat a succulent Chinese meal at any restaurant of BrisDog's choice in front of anyone who wants to watch.
Mutt - my offerings to BigFloppa would have created some real interest for the rest of the VFL season.

Up to you re censorship and having a bet on the likelihood of JUH kicking 6 in the VFL but I accept you deleting my post. It could have been a good one.

BigFloppa, send me a PM. I have an incentive-based claused bet re JUH’s performance in this VFL season that you may be blown away by.

With a bit more application he could have had a much better AFL/VFL career. A bit like Fred Cook in some ways but he had a falling out with the administration. When Beasley was recruited in 1982 and with Kelvin Templeton starring at CHF, there was just no room for him at the Dogs.

Just a few facts about his amazing country football career (courtesy Wikipedia):
"Loveless is best known as a prolific full-forward in country football, mostly for Victoria clubs, starting at Latrobe Valley Football League club Sale. He would continue playing across the state until the age of 46, by which time he had amassed over 2000 goals, from no less than 16 clubs.
Loveless was constantly on the move, setting new goal-kicking records as he went. He twice kicked 25 goals in a league game and managed to top 100 goals in a season on seven occasions. Back at Sale in 1986, he participated in their only premiership of the decade, one of five premiership teams that he played in.
His complete list of clubs are Sale, Footscray, Glenorchy, Tatura, Kyabram, Nambrok, Gunbower, Casterton, South Gambier, Apsley, Kerang Rovers, Colbinabbin, Ardmona, Nagambie, Heyfield and Boisdale-Briagolong."
