While it is great that that JUH is back training, i really think the club still needs to really challenge him to best win back the trust of the team. While consistently training, playing vfl etc is one thing, there needs to be another layer.
As a forward, he is currently surplus to needs and it is difficult to see him finding a path back to the AFL side this year. Even if he is a better option than Buku, will he really prove enough to be that replacement this year. Maybe.
But I really do think the Bulldogs can add an extra layer by telling him he will being as a key back this year. To me it serves so many purposes.
- it can prove that he is being selfless for the team
- it is still an area of need for the team as a third key back
- it suits his athletic profile
- it fits with him being a very good field kick, but terrible goalkicker
- it provides another skill for him to use whether for the bulldogs or trade value
By doing so, it also potentially gives the club a way of saying that if he wants to play AFL this year, he can do it by being selfless and therefore potentially gives him a quicker path back than as a forward. Who knows, he may be the hidden answer to our long term key back issues.
Thoughts?
