I’m sorry I ever doubted the lad. The HS article is just a tidbit of tonight but it was was an incredibly open, honest and vulnerable tidbit. I think tonight’s podcast will really hit home and I’m incredibly proud of Jamarra for speaking out.

He comes across in that as someone who is really coming to grips with what he’s gone through and how it’s shaped him as a person, and it seems as if his whole outlook on not just life, but himself, has changed, and it’s lovely to see.

Maintaining his current trajectory will be the biggest challenge but he is certainly on the right path and appears to be aware of his wrong doings and take complete responsibility for his actions. Huge achievement for a young man.

Very confronting and emotional read, well done to Marra for speaking up and getting help. Will still be a long road back for him and he'll have setbacks as you never fully get rid of this illness, but great to hear how happy he is at the club and the love he has for the place.

Right behind him and hope he has turned a corner now personally and in a much better state of mind, and look forward to him being a Bulldog for years to come.

Actions speak louder than words apparently according to him. Him speaking to players, rocking up to training and seeking help externally are actions in my opinion.

Sounds like he definitely wants to remain a bulldog even past next year, which is great to hear. If he gets back playing AFL (which seems like he is heading in the right direction) I don’t see why we wouldn’t offer another contract.

To consider he is more than a 50% chance to play AFL this year is incredible. I had it a 0.1% chance three weeks ago.

Regardless of whether he plays this year or not, what a rollercoaster ride.

He wants to win a flag at the WB so let's make it happen.

Im a terrible dude. But Im pretty comfortable with my filtering of the real from the bullshit that has been put forth here and elsewhere. From where Im sat, it seems to be playing out as I expected.

For reasons outside of his control he lost his passion for the game and the the thread of his football career.

This was never a player club issue. And needs to be looked at as a gap year for a guy who succumbed to the immense pressure that we'll never understand heaped upon him.

I dont know how things will pan out for him. But Im glad that he seems to have grabbed hold of that thread again.

Context is everything.

And pass a skeptical eye over anything you read in this place with its unreliable narrators.

I’ve been pretty passionate about the health of Marra over the journey but even I’ve got to put my hand up and admit at times I wondered if there was an element of it being self sabotage, and perhaps there are elements of that but clearly he’s battled and will continue to battle. I hope he continues on this trajectory.

The nature of depression is self sabotage unfortunately, and externally it can appear like a lack of care or laziness but internally it's caring too much/over thinking and burnout. Also another unfortunately coupling is the relationship between depression and vices used to numb the pain or those that give brief euphoria push the user deeper into a depressive state the minute they wear out and the spiral begins.

Nup it’s absolutely not and I agree with him there. I’ve now watched the whole thing and to be honest, I thought there was still a lack of accountability.
