We can't really do much about it. If he nominates that he wants to get there it will happen and they'll pay nothing. Yes he's contracted and blah blah but we don't have much leverage given we want him gone and the AFL will be very keen to be trying to land an outcome that gives him the best possible chance of turning things around. There's a 95% chance we get ****ed again through no fault of our own.

if he wants a trade and nominates the cats, I am starting a petition for the club to not deal with the cats. Reckon I would get a lot signatures. We say to him you can go anywhere you want bar the cats or you sit out the season. We cannot become their feeder club and allow them to walk over us again.

The AFL could take the decision out of our hands if they decide that it's best for Jamarra. They do not want a situation where a troubled indigenous kid is forced to sit out a season. They care more about the optics than anything. To hell with fairness or the Doggies who have done nothing wrong.

So not like this season where he sat out?

This is fair enough.

We're not too proud to be bought off for the greater good. Give us two top 10 picks Dillon, and we won't cause a fuss.

I’ve resigned myself to the almost certain likelihood that he won’t play for us again and that we’ll be told to recruit Ben Dover with any pick that we’re forced to take for him.

My conspiracy theorist alt-self says that a certain club is behind all of this.
They've convinced him to stand out, and ask to be traded (no club named) at season's end, citing "compassionate" reasons.

No takers at first, but then said club steps in late with an "offer of assistance", saying they just want to help out.

AFL congratulates them on their benevolence, but insists they give the Dogs a "fair" pick. Brokerage 101, after all...

Media swoons over said club for their milk-of-human-kindness, altruistic attitude, but insists a 4th rounder is more than fair, given the "huge" risk involved.

JUH becomes a superstar, media faps over the brilliance of said club's incredible recruitment and culture.

Cool conspiracy or what? 😁

I do conspiracies well, hey? 😁
Heard the one about the ACL injury that never happened?

Unfortunately, I think this might be outcome, not just a conspiracy :(

Play it again Chris, I mean Sam.
I posted that said club was behind this months ago, but lots of people weren’t having it.
Wish I had their level optimism and faith in human nature.
Or naivety.

I think Geelong have got their hands full with Sniff, they are learning very fast what a high maintenance player he is, they won’t want another one.

Having a glance at their board there doesn’t seem to be any sign the supporters think he is going there.

Jamarra's value dropped a bit tonight. When you are not playing opportunities are provided to others and Croft’s start will have some impact on Jamarra's future if it had not already been decided

Bevo mentioned in his presser that Croft is a forward OR back but he is currently being played forward. Found that interesting. Perhaps the door isn’t completely shut on Marra. Or I’m clutching at straws. Probably clutching. Croft is a huge talent though, can play literally anywhere, wildcard.

Refused to be assessed and treated by our medical staff and procured his own surgeon...
I heard about Smith using his own surgeon, but surely knee stability tests were done at training for them to assume a torn ACL ("feared ACL for Smith" was in the training reports).

And I can't see a way how the MRI scans wouldn't have been sent to our docs/the club, even if the "intention" was to get the surgery by a non-club affiliated surgeon.

I actually wouldn't put a fake injury past someone of his character, but it would be so hard to pull off.

I'm not sure I buy into the conspiracy theories here other than the obvious fact that the AFL is self-serving in its longer-term relationship with the AFLPA (how easy is it to sack a player, mental health/cultural obligations) as well as the fact that even blind Freddy can see that Jamarra might benefit in reviving an AFL career with some physical separation from his "friends" in Melbourne.

It's crappy for us but I suppose that we're not tied down in a long-term contract situation. A vague similar situation is Oliver and Melbourne, who is running around as 50% of the player he was and getting paid a bunch for several more years.
