The word is the club looked into a trade during the trade period but word was swirling about his infamous finals preparation already.

Absolutely sucks for us. When he hit peak form late in the season he looked like a future Coleman medallist. If only we’d been able to cash out.

Said it before but if you wanted to “save” this “kid” (he is an adult making choices the club cannot influence any more than they’ve tried) there’s one way:

Cut off the money tap.

He is the money in his circle of criminal mates. They will try to keep him adjacent to the criminal activity so he doesn’t do anything wrong in a legal sense.

The only wake up call at this point that might do anything is to make Jamarra realise that the 800k (or more) he’s getting each year will dry up very quickly at this rate. He will be of no use to his mates and probably ends up in prison.

The AFL would not let us cut his payments.

It’s a great talking point for the awful afl media, that this is a “kid” that can be saved, but he’s a grown man making choices that are likely coming from a very irrational place. He went to rehab to tick a box to keep getting paid. That’s what motivates him.

We had Marra tied to Naughts and Bont early days. You couldn’t ask for better influences. We probably did this with an inkling that it would be important to have good influences around him.

He gets into boxing and meets some unsavoury characters, that becomes his friendship group, and he gets a monster payday that becomes very appealing to his new “friends”. We cannot do anything about these choices.

We could have eased up on our arrangements and created a standard for Jamarra and a standard for everyone else. This we have control over, and is a separate discussion. Take Bailey Smith

Part of me wants to see Cats pick him up. So him and Baz can **** them up. It worked sending Hunter to Melbourne.

I pissed myself laughing watching Atkins being interviewed, no questions about his game, no questions about the team, club etc, just questions about who Smith is dating, the look on his face was priceless.

Geelong having a “strong culture” is the biggest myth in footy. Their players are allowed to do whatever they like. This is coming from a player themselves.

AFLPA and player managers are logically significantly against this, not necessarily due to the circumstances of Jamarra himself but more generally that they shouldn't have easy power to do this.

Everyone agrees but we have to remember Jamarra remains part of a union, and has a strong manager, and that union has 100% membership rate and has very high standards for having very effective player managers. And we all know how unions can protect bad members for the broader interests of the union.

Of course, there gets to a point, I don't think he'll be getting anywhere near his guaranteed money for next year unless significant changes are made between now and mid-November when a decision has to be made about whether we have another list spot free or not, so the money will only last for about another 3 months as it stands.

I first heard about this after seeing a news headline that said something along the lines of:

"Troubled Bulldogs star caught up in night club shooting".

In the background I could hear my wife watching an episode of 7 News Spotlight on Catch Up and I heard, "Samuel Davidson will serve 20 years in prison."

I freaked out and I'm confident by heart skipped a beat.

Turns out Samuel Davidson is the person from NSW who sadly killed four young children in 2020 when he got behind the wheel affected by alcohol.

It took me a good 5-10 seconds to work out it had nothing to do with our Sam Davidson and the night club shooting was related to JUH.
