So he gets paid out by us and then a new salary on top for next year? Jamarra's hit the jackpot if so 😂

Surely the AFL force a trade or make him sit out next season if this is to be the case.
Any payout from us will be at a fair discount; otherwise, there is no incentive for us to do so. We may pay 50% or less, so Jamarra would then be free to seek a new contract, but the total amounts may not be as much as his original contract's final year.

If we have to pay his salary next year and he is to go to GC for nothing, I would rather he sit out the year away from the club and not play. Hard choice, but he has done nothing to earn a clean start at our expense.
I think we would ask him to take a pay cut if he wants to move. He's on close to $1m.

The worst case scenario would be him coming back. He would then be under the club’s care and everything that goes along with that, including him just popping in and out of the club whenever he feels. He could barely string two training sessions together. I doubt that it'll be any of use to us if we kept him.

There is no scenario where we keep him on the list to repeat this year again. Either he's 100% committed or he's gone, and it'll obviously be the latter.

Ch 9 news reporting the UH was removed from a local game down Warnambool a couple of weeks ago due to his behavior. I didn't think it was possible to be asked to leave a country game no matter what you did.
It’s possible, know a bloke that’s been banned entirely from attending any game after causing a huge fight. Good bloke to me but was quite notorious back in the day on the field. Not sure what JUH has done may have to do some digging around

What Pickering was getting at was letting us settle with him (ie $300,000 termination payment) then taking him as a rookie on standard payments, rather than GC agreeing to pay the “gap”.

Give up nothing and pay him SFA.

I miss the days the worst thing he did at the footy was miss a sitter.

Surely we can get out of paying next year if gc don’t take him.

There’s almost definitely been a breach of contract on his end through his actions.

Cal Twomey seems pretty confident Suns will take him.
Could we get a pick upgrade from 10 to 6, just by trading him, and maybe paying some of his wages? Would rather keep pick 28 since we have no third round pick at all. Crap draft or not, Geelong built their team largely from finding later round gems.

4th rounder at best, maybe involve him in the Budarick deal. Honestly, if we get just some of his wage off our books it's a win.

For reference. Both Cal and Tom Morris seem to think it's quite likely JUH ends up at the Suns which should help to make things neater for us to seperate from him. We won't get much of value, will just depend how much of his salary we have to pay, but I think it makes sense to be a part of the Budarick deal.

I'm glad it's Gold Coast to be honest. If he went down to Geelong and turned it around, high fiving Baz after kicking 60 goals in a season I might crash out.

More likely Baz and Marra will crash out, if they get together.

In all seriousness, I sincerely hope Marra can turn it around.

A Budarick Jamarra trade does seem to be firming.

Given all the risk with JUH, can see GCS giving him 2 years, with his current contract split ($850k over 2 years instead of one).

If we chip in something like $200k of the first year, straight swap with Budarick might be fair enough for all parties?

Obviously sucks for us, but this probably sucks less than the alternatives?

Absolutely furious. Another Smith situation where the club has supported the player through all this s***, put up with a year of crap and he's going to trot off to the Suns and the classic redemption story begins.

I'm not bitter, but I hope it ends in tears for all of them. Sick and tired of players taking our club for a ride and it's been two years in a row now.

I don't want us paying him a cent, in fact, if there was any justice he would be made to pay back his 2025 wage.

I completely understand the frustration. We put our money into the club, dedicate so much of our lives to it, and love it unconditionally.

What makes it a little easier is recognising how well the club has actually handled these situations. They’ve been difficult and delicate, but the bigger frustration would be if the club had created these problems themselves or failed to manage them properly. I don’t think the Dogs can be accused of that.

That said, the frustration is still valid and very understandable. But if you can shift your focus a little, it does make things easier to accept.

I think most clubs have had to deal with a situation where a player goes off the rails, this situation has been more public than most due to him being pick one in his draft year.

However he is not accused of violence, or sexual assault or any other crime, he is behaving immaturely and somewhat selfishly, so take a deep breath everyone.
