5 Jazz songs, all of different styles and from different eras. They are:

  1. Maynard Ferguson - Gospel John (70's)
  2. Wynton Marsalis - When it's Sleepy Time Down South (1991)
  3. Sammy Nestico Orchestra - For Lina and Lenny (2000)
  4. Sammy Nestico Orchestra - Joy of Cooking (2000)
  5. Wynton Marsalis and Richard Galiano - La Vie en Rose [Live] (2010)

I saw Wynton Marsalis with The Lincoln Centre Orchestra in the mid to late 90s.

He did a show featuring jazz from every decade of the 20th Century. It remains one of the great musical experiences of my life. Simply incredible.

Another couple of classic Jazz songs. Surprised no one had put the 1st one in yet? An iconic Jazz song of the 70's.
The 2nd is an adaptation of a famous classical piece done by none other than the great Wynton Marsalis.

  1. John Coltrane - My Favorite Things
  2. Wynton Marsalis - Flight of the Bimblebee (jazz)
  3. Wynton Marsalis - Flight of the Bimblebee (Classical)

This song i've added because it also showcases Wynton Marsalis's ability to play classically. I can't stop admiring how fast, clean and adept with his orchestra, he is.

The Necks are brutal... did you see them a few weeks ago at the Forum? They played with Swans. I missed it, because I'm an idiot, but it would have been amazing...

Stumbled across this yesterday. Its Haley reinhart(former american idol contestant) performing with Irvin Mayfield singing "God Bless the child". It is EPIC

I love her voice and Irvin's trumpet solo but I especially love how Haley scats back and fourth with Irvin at the end

Digging the Tyner,Kris cool cat.
Lol my gf laughed at me when at a show at Bennett's Lane I told her "gee that cat's good"
Why cat she questioned.
I replied a cat is a jazz musician who can play.

Or a premiership footballer :)

Legendary Melbourne Trumpeter Eamon McNelis.

If you ever go to Bennett's Lane or the Uptown Jazz Cafe say hi to him.

Nice chap.

Plays in a million jazz bands around Melbourne.

My very first youtube.:D

My folks bought this vinyl back in the early 70's and I converted it from my Technics Turntable.

Melbourne's own The Red Onions Band.

Gerry Humphries of The Loved Ones fame, played clarinet in this band.

Enjoy this cover of I think a Fat's Waller tune.
