Injury The JK Injury

OK assuming JK is out for a six week stretch or the like. :(

The more important question for me is this.

Just how soon Lycett comes back into the side this becomes the critical part of the puzzle , because once Lycett is back then Petrie can be deployed in a different role.

Whilst JK is going to be badly missed I am comfortable with Petrie playing FF as others have rightfully said he has done so at North for over a decade and had several 50 + goal seasons.

In the interim until Lycett is back I REALLY want to see Lamb given another chance in the side.

Lets not waste the opportunity to see what Lamb is capable of and please resist the temptation to bring McInnes back.
Just to clarify I was happy with Fraser's few games but its decision time for both him and Lamb come seasons end as far as our list goes.
I would be very reluctant to just delist Lamb without giving him a second go.
Heaven forbid it would be nice if the Match Committee became creative and even experimented and tried Lamb in the Masten role , ( Not sure the selectors would go that route as it would require a change in the game plan to have someone play that role that could lay a decent tackle and or break one. ;) ).

So the JK injury is a major out but it also provides some opportunities to be creative and develop our list.

Gov isn't a forward on what we have seen, he looks absolutely lost.
I do agree with you there but he has the size and can take a mark, I do think he can play as a power forward more so than Darling. Would rather have him in the backline but for the short term (depending on JKs injury) might be our only option.

Could cover jks loss if we had a few zippy mid/smalls. Hopefully both lecras and jd go up a few notches. I'd be tempted to throw Venables in there in a few weeks time as he does have the speed/x factor combo and is very good around goals.

That or Mackenzie back.

Emac forward reeks of pushing shit up hill. I know he's spent a bit of time forward in the WAFL but it'd take a herculean effort for him to kick multiple goals in an AFL game.

Who sees Emac ever kicking over 2 goals?

Petrie forward sounds better than Petrie ruck and we tried that.

Realistically Darling & Lecras are the only two who look capable of kicking 5 for us in Kennedys absence but I'd love for McGovern to kick a few.

Not a fan of Emac anymore... the player type that he is, is no longer suited to our side. He will always attempt to spoil ball rather then going for the grab and his kicking efficiency is crap.

Jack did alright when Kennedy was out injured a couple of years back (think it was 2014?). What about playing Petrie at FF and bring in McInnes as 2nd ruck? Personally don't think McGovern is the answer - we would be robbing Peter to pay Paul.

has anyone asked Hackdorn yet? He knows everything about JK's body...
Elbow injury. Hanging by the tendon and will require surgery.

Has Lamb played at AFL level yet - I didn't think he had but stand to be corrected. Yes giving Lamb a go may be the way to go. He could surprise us.

The 'pop' noise is the worry. Best mate did his achilles with a full tear whilst playing soccer, said it was like a shotgun going off and it rolled up the back of his leg. Another friend of mine did a minor achilles tear and said it sounded like a pop when it happened. We were watching the game yesterday and the moment he saw the vision he said achilles.

McGovern forward, Barrass back.

No Mackenzie.
Not sure Barrass is playing well enough at the moment to be holding the fort down back. He and McGovern complement each other but not sure how Barrass would go without McGovern guiding him at this early stage of his career, and if Gov did go forward we would then need to play either Schofield or McKenzie in McGoverns role - it could weaken our backline considerably?

Played one game .

First game of the 2015 season against the Doggies got 10 disposals and kicked a goal.
I thought he did enough to hold his spot but that was not to be.

I think people are still hung up on something Darling did 5 years ago. It's time to move on fam.

He can't beat his opponent when he gets the 2nd defender, how's he going to go on the oppositions best?
Darling wasn't always on the oppositions best defender back then. We had the q stick and one of cox/NN up forward that year. JD just needs Petrie or who ever to be competitive and create space. For me jack has the strength to actually make an influence in 1v1 but that's when he has confidence.

Optimism on the old saying, sink or swim.. we've seen him swim before, there's every chance he can do it again. But agreed, currently he looks like a bag of marbles.

Might be very reactive but should look at burning in Rioli in after the bye. You sit him at the feet of our make shift talls and he should be able have an impact or cause a headache.

Having suffered from calf muscle injuries in the past, that's what happens - I was playing tennis when it happened to me & I felt like I had been shot and you just go down like a sack of potatoes! I ended up having shin splints as well as the calf and took me some time to get over & had physio by a sports specialist, however I didn't have all the top medicos at hand like Kennedy will. Each case is different. From memory Laurie Keene who was the Eagles ruckman when the Eagles first entered the AFL did his Achilles and it wrecked his career - never came back from it. Lets just hope it's not an Achilles with Kennedy:(

Darling actually got some good looks in the last quarter when Kennedy was missing. Sure he stuffed up another easy goal on a slight angle, but he kicked one and set up one to Mitchell, plus had the ball on the siren (he kicked it actually after the siren when it didn't matter, naturally). Being given more responsibility as a forward might be a way to snap him out of these half performances.

Being a key power forward need to be able to take a strong pack mark, darling can't. There early stages Darling he was a better player he was more lively in the forward line, he was seemed to fade a way in the last couple years. Mcinnes is not an effective ruck/forward sooo not sure where he will fit in our line up....
