Front page news on the addy. Ripped into the club
She was well within her rights to advise her partner not to put his name into the draft and instead remain in the WAFL to ply his trade.

Or to seek a trade with Fremantle. Which would have happened with their consent.

I want my cake and eat it too ? .... ( but really who buys a cake and thinks its not for eating?)

It would seem most in the afl industry think Geelong have done the correct thing being strong , on the whole the industry are getting sick of players wanting to control when contracted..sure if you are uncontracted there is an argument about determining you own destination but when contracted?... maybe WC and their supporters and the Kelly gang will have a different pov... but ... if you want what the afl brings in remuneration then you have to be willing to contribute to what brings the wealth... and thats a dispersal of talent.

Now to be fair..I concede the draft is far from perfect or fair.... and I think after being passed at the draft for 3 or 4 times ..I think there is an argument that all players should be able to choose their destination.. his encumbrances are far heavier than those on a Oscar Brownless..yet Brownless get a choice to stay home if he is good enough.. Scott had that choice and decided to move ... or what about the numerous NGA players.

Im sure the other half thought she had the dream all worked out and dialled in.. and then Geelong came along and spoiled it.. but Id ask..where is the article from her about ...why WC have failed to offer enough to get it done ..after all their promises? Where's the article about them ignoring them for year and letting them down time after time... where the article about why WC was so important rather than just taking a Freo offer ..?

all I read was "me, me, me, me, me"

This was my first thought after reading the article in the addy.

A prima donna is a diva: someone who acts like they are the star of the show. If you tirelessly dominate the conversation and always interrupt when other people are talking, people will think you're a prima donna. Prima donna is a term that comes from the Opera, and literally means first woman

She didn't look too unhappy any of the times she's been on the red carpet.

From the article:
Cats boss Brian Cook has declared the club is committed to doing whatever it can to make staying beyond Kelly’s contract not only possible, but appealing, for the family.

“We have to be confident, otherwise we would have traded him, so we are confident we can put some things together for him that will help his total life,” he said.

“Particularly around his family and trying to support his partner, Caitlin, and their children.”

My take on all of this just quickly, and then it will be my last post on the topic.

She was all too happy to come to Geelong and make the move knowing they'll be receiving a higher income from her partner playing AFL football. Then the Eagles came knocking early in the year with a massive contract offer and her eyes lit up. Then she played the family support card in an attempt to get back home. Tim comes across as being grateful to Geelong for the opportunity and is all too happy to continue playing for the club. I can't find one direct quote from himself that indicates that's he's the one pushing for a return back to Western Australia. He's being pressured by a self-centred and self-absorbed partner, (and one who needs to make up stories to the media for sympathy) and a manager who only has his own interests at heart, and one who isn't cut out for this caper.

Now onto the draft.

I like fact he’s kept very quiet through all of this, but I think it’s nearly time he came out and said something coz the other two aren’t doing him any favours in the eye of the public.

Oh just worked out how to do it.
Actually feel sorry for her. Not sure why they wouldn't go to Freo though.

Really looking forward to his output this year. I’ve got a bad feeling.
Much damage has been done thus far through the off-season. Tim has at least managed himself with great maturity and responsibility from day one. I would expect he now has one more point to prove, and will not let the club down onfield.

The rest will work itself out. It's an unusual and delicate situation, as we are all aware.

Maybe this is a really simplistic view but if it's really THAT bad for the family then just go home.
They don't HAVE to stay here, he could get an ok wage playing in the WAFL or another job like a normal person, or could have simply taken up freo's offer.
You can't cry about how hard it is then rule out 99% of the options to correct it.
It's like an unemployed person crying about no jobs, but only wanting to work 2 days a week, 10am-2pm and make 150k a year.

The family is obviously shattered, and Tim’s wife clearly wants to be back in Perth so I don’t think anything Geelong try to do to help them will have an effect.

2019 could be a balls up with how Kelly plays.
Then so be it! I think West Coast went a bit cold once they knew Gaff was staying... Kelly obviously has a beef with Fremantle, that's not Geelong's fault. The go home story cops a battering with that alone. IMO i think he will perform out of his skin in order to keep the Eagles interested and still offer a multi million dollar five year deal...He turns 25 next year, he will be in his prime for the nest 3 - 4 years! The Cats will still get a pick in the teens for him in 2019. 12 months is a long time in footy...you never know?
