The Arsenal, New England Patriots,
Patricia Hearst, heiress to the Hearst media empire, was kidnapped in Berkeley California by urban guerilla group the Symbionese Liberation Army in February 1974

Hearst's father agreed to the SLA' s demand that he distribute $70m of food to the needy, but they were unsatisfied with its quality and refused to release her

After 2 months in captivity, Patty joined the SLA and assisted them in carrying out a bank robbery

It was later claimed that she had been "brainwashed"

She was arrested in 1975, tried and sentenced to 35 years

Patty was freed by Pres Carter after serving 22 months and was given a full pardon by Pres Clinton in 2001
 
Her case was the first time that I had heard the expression "Stockholm Syndrome" used.
