CM: Looking forward to pulling on the Chevrons in 2017, ay.
JH: Heh heh, Cockburn...

Would love the inside info on this one. Had multiple sources tell me we are chasing him hard. Cam will be cheaper.

Who would be CHF?

Mayne. Haven't you heard - Ross wants to turn Hogan and McCarthy in to key defenders.

The other things here is the Cam McCarthy Situation.

If anything it will have made players more reluctant to sign anything until they are completely ready.
If he has any thoughts that he may want to come home and he stays fit...just sit tight, and assess the landscape.

With Luke gone, Pav gone next year and Sandi likely with one or two years left max, if this is at all a chance we'd be front loading contracts like nobodies business. The cap wouldn't have a spare dollar in it.

Hogan is the sort you mortgage your house, and the rest of the street.
If Sydney can do it for Buddy AND get Tippett we can do the same

And further, guys on average wages, not essential to team success (say those in the 15-30 range) may find themselves moved on and replaced with new kids

Using the AFL average as a rough guide, our player spread might look something like this (contract end dates next to the name)

600k+ (3 per team)
1.Fyfe (2017)
2.Sandi (2016)
3.Mundy (2017)

400k-600k (7 per team)
4.Pav (2016)
5.Hill (2019)
6.Johnson (2017)
7.Bennell
8.Walters (2018)
9.Ibbotson (2017)
10.Ballantyne (2017)

300k-400k (7 per team)
11.Neale (2016)
12.Mayne (2016)
13.Pearce D (2016)
14.Dawson (2017)
15.Barlow (2016)
16.Suban (2017)
17.Spurr (2016)

200k-300k (8 per team)
18.De Boer (2016)
19.Mzungu (2016)
20.Clancee (2016)
21.Sutcliffe (2018)
22.Sheridan (2017)
23.Clarke (2016)
24.Griffin (2017)
25.Crozier (2017)

28.Hannath (2016)
29.Pearce A (2016)

31.Langdon (2016)
32.Blakely (2017)
33.Grey (2016)
34.Hughes
35.Apeness (2018)

0-100k (5 per team)
36.Tucker
37.Balic
38.Collins
39.Yarran
40. nominated rookie

Probably won't happen but I could see PearceD, Suban and De Boer getting moved on to free up space, with Weller, Langdon and Blakely taking over their roles

That's nuffie speak your using. Do you know anyone who is Dads ?ie. Dumb as Dog Shit. That would be all those GWS idiots that post all that crap about Cam justifying what their club did by not trading him.

Yeah pretty much

Need to be realistic on this... Slim chance of Hogan coming here. Freo are more likely to get Black from North or Paperone from Brisbane or Marsh from Collingwood by trading. Yeah they are average players.

I think Hogan will be Melbourne's Pav. As much as we need him, Melbourne probably need him more given the shitty times they've had. Hogan is exactly the player they need to build a club around and hopefully bring success to the club.

Would absolutely cry with joy if we got him though but I don't see it.

Realistically I can only see us getting 1 out of - Mccarthy, Hooker and Hogan and that would McCarthy. Would be awesome to get Mccarthy and Hooker. Would be an absolute wet dream to obtain Hogan too.

I'd rather get a football player o_O

Because we probably can't afford Fyfe & Hogan.
Melbourne won't trade Hogan until the end of his 2017 contract.
Fyfe comes out of contract as a free agent at end of 2017.
Both players worth between $1m & $1.5m per season each.
Maybe add on Hooker @ $750k odd.
That's a lot of dough.
