Yes Mora, I am in same boat , uebergang and Nyhuis really need to prove it in WAFL, not a fan of Smith so he is definitely out just in my opinion.Pavlich, Taberner, Apeness, Hannath, Mayne
Johnson, Dawson, Silvagni, Pearce, Collins, Ibbotson
This is a list of players that would be ahead of our rookie KPPs for a spot. Some might not quite be talls but they'd play as a tall if those I've listed ahead were injured/underperforming. It'd take more than two injuries to make it worth upgrading a KPP. Not to mention if it was a defender, I wouldn't be surprised to see Morabito upgraded to play as a third tall. I just can't see the rookie KPPs playing. Smith aside they need more meat on them to play AFL. None of the players above do to the extent they'd be significantly disadvantaged. Smith due to his disposal would have to play as a genuine KPP not third tall. I just can't see that happening tbh. Taberner, Apeness and Pearce are very highly rated by the club and will get opportunities before the rookies.
FWIW last year's AFL Record says this - Clubs without 40 primary-listed players can nominate a rookie before round one. Now nothing there saying you can't after round one but the way I read it and history (can't remember anyone elevating a rookie after round one) it's before round one only and by not doing it we are effectively going one short for the season. So we are looking for the whole year, not just round one. Now Morabito is clearly the rookie most likely to play games throughout the campaign. The chances of us needing one of our KPP rookies without receiving a LTI are just so ridiculously low. You are looking at 4-5 injuries all under 8 weeks durations and no LTIs elsewhere either. If we are in this situation or very close to this situation then maybe but otherwise Morabito every single time.
