I think his big problem is his lack of physicality. He just doesn't put his body in enough. If he did he might hold a few more marks.

I think he knows where to run and has good wheels.
Yeah I agree... Saw him down at south beach this morning doing walk throughs in the water and at one stage shadow boxing..needless to say the water wasn't agitated in anyway

Some wives have been known to have a brick in the hand bag!!

Tabs is a comparatively young developing tall and as has been said on eleventy seven previous ocassions warrants some time so we know what he can offer.
He's shown enough to continue to be given further opportunity.
Or are the knockers saying delist now?

She thinks he doesn't believe enoughin what he can do hence the silly remark.

How many opportunities to mark in the forward line does Pav get given weekly? Tabs goes on leads all the time, he'll have burned off his opponent and the ball still get's kicked to Pav - but Pav muffs a huge amount of marks. Let's not guild the lilly, Pav is a legend of our club, but right now as a forward he has lost a yard or two of pace and his opponents are getting hand to the ball.

For all the crying that Tabs can't mark, Tabs was our leading goalkicker in the Nab - and equal highest score in round 1 (and on a day with no service to the forwards). Since he can't mark and is apparently bad at ground level (asserted somewhere earlier), how did he get any goals, let alone outscore Pav in the Nab or equal him in round 1 when he doesn't get the ball repeatedly sent to him that Pav gets?

I can understand the selection committee cracking the shits with our round 1 rucks. But they were muppets to drop Tabs after round 1, everyone had a bad day and the main culprits were in the midfield. Alex in Round 2 where we had decent delivery forward (enough to hit 100 points), vs Tabs/pav in round 1 - which was a terrible day for a forward with little delivery there. Can't compare Alex in round 3 as the rucking makes it apples vs oranges.

Far too much sense here

Hasn't been anything new in regards to kicking to Pav- even in the days when he had 2/3 players on him.. Tabs works so damn hard up the ground only to get ignored and players bomb long and high to Pav. It's frustrating and seen it happen in Round 1 particularly. Remember there was an argument that Mayne/Clarke didn't do enough on 2013 GF that Brian Lake dominated Pav (who already had Gibson on him) with the kicks to him. Think it's a player confidence thing more then anything. Must see Mayne/Tabs free and think 'Yeah those two can't mark or make a contest so I'll just kick it to Pav who's better anyway'

We all have to bare in mind he's still only 22 years old, and the key forward position is one of the hardest positions to play in football, not to mention they get the highest amount of scrutiny when they under-perform. He's got the height, he's got the stamina, he just just needs to develop his body and mind. Dropping him after round 1 after an abysmal performance by the whole squad was a bad decision in my opinion, he would've kicked 2+ against Gold Coast, but hindsight's important.

Agree, he has been listed in the squad again, if he gets a crack and we get pumped don't drop him for the home game against Carlton.

All of the discussion is really a mute point. We don't have any real other ready option at this stage. I would love A.Pearce to leap up and kick 5 goals this week but history shows that is about as likely as Hell freezing over. Interestingly, Collins does not seem far away from the squad so it will be essential that they give him a go up forward like A.Pearce when the time comes.
Might I also say, they need to be given more than one week to show their stuff. They need to know that win, lose or draw that the coach will give them a good run in the role up forward. In future we are going to need at least 2 positions filled up forward.

I don't, hes terrible.

He needs to play 4-5 really good games at Peel and learn to impose himself on a game before he gets another look in.

He's been the best key forward in the WAFL for 2 seasons already.

Has there been any thought on grabbing a transitional tall from another club? Someone who isnt a world beater but wouldnt cost you anything higher than a 3rd rounder and would give you a target for the next couple of years whilst you land a bigger fish
Id' be surprised if Freo weren't into Jenkins.

I'd take Jenkins in a heartbeat. Not just because he is a KPF but because he is actually pretty good. His form this year has been great and he can also chop out in the ruck when needed.

agree. james stewart is young money ball type. would be a good get IMO
Might not be the worst suggestion actually. Probably worth close to nothing by the end of the year and we are probably trading for McCarthy anyway.

Having said that no Hooker and assuming we're getting McCarthy I'd prefer a KPD. Stewart is more of a forward and may not want to come to WA plus trading negotiations between us and GWS may be a little sour. They'd probably want to just move McCarthy on and not give us any other favours assuming the McCarthy situation continues to pan out as it is (he'll be worth literally nothing in 2017 if they don't trade him this year).
