I have a recommendation to mods for an enhancement to the ignore function.

Can we ignore all posts by posters that support an particular team? Or even thread started by them?

Would put a hand brake on many of the s**t fights for sure.

Yes you can ignore its called the down key, its the one with the downward pointing arrow on it.

The Dogs really did pinch one didn't they.

Hawthorn 2007-2009 called.
Essendon 1992-1994 also called. (Essendon finished 8th in 1992, not enough for the finals at the time but winning 12 games would normally play finals since 1994). Won the Premiership with the 'Baby Bombers' and then plunged and missed finals in 1994 before bouncing back for Top 4 in 1995.
Collingwood 1989-1991 also on the line.

These things happen.

First Year - Rising Young team wins a Final (or at least makes finals Collingwood 1989 (& 1988) - but pre 1990 hadn't won a final since 1984) but bows out next week.
Second Year - Rising Young team builds on a good year and wins the FLAG.
Third Year - Rising Young team suffers a Premiership hangover.

But what happens after that?

Hawthorn 2010-2015 is one example. (4 Grand Finals, 3 Premierships)

Collingwood 1992-1997/2001 is another example (0 Grand Finals, 0 Premierships, barely any finals) - that's how you have a Premiership hangover!

Essendon 1995-2000 I'd say Bombers went alright in this era, few Prelims and a Premiership following their "early" success. 1993 & 2000 analogous to Hawthorn 2008 & 2015... In a sense.

It’s not really unusual when you think about it. Footy is a sport where being the best team in the H&A doesn’t always mean you were the best team.

The real best team wins under pressure on the big day.

Consider the past deacade-and-a-half of GFs - the ‘favourite’ (not just talking odds) mostly lost.

15 - fav won
14 - upset
13 - fav
12 - upset
11 - pretty even - think fav?
10 - draw, then fav
09 - fav
08 - upset
07 - fav
06 - fav

It’s arbitrary, like Jason pm’s tram ladder, but that’s 10 favs (with two erring on the safe side and one taking two goes) and 7 upsets.

All of this is to say it’s no secret to anyone that hone and away means s**t

Big is being the first EVER Aussie sporting team to bring in 1 million spectators in a year (1980),

Being BIG selling out the mcg against the poultry GWS. Bringing in 86,000 against Melbourne in 2017 (not 1957), being the front page of the papers all year, having the highest attended grand final since 1986 and lastly for now, shutting down the whole suburb of Richmond grand final night. I drove by Footscray last year and other than Franco Cozzo being open at 10pm, nothing happened.

Also, your 'four minnow premierships cuz you couldn't be in the afl' don't bloody count.

To extrapolated is to theorise as to what may happen in the future not what has already happened. Lol. Nice try at trying to sound intelligent.
