$10? I payed $59 on Ozgamers, I seen it cheapest for $89 at JB's work out the savings. Anyway I had $35 remainder in my PayPal account so technically I only paid $24.
The ending seemed a bit of a let down to be honest. Maybe it's because it was what I wanted to happen, that is for both Ellie and Joel to survive. I think it could've been a lot more emotional and memorable if Ellie did die to save humanity after talking to Joel. I guess there could be a sequel Last of Us now?
Just played multiplayer with the worst players I've seen in the game. Constantly died and refused to revive whenever someone went down. They weren't just starting either, they were all like level 6.
Infuriating.

All done. Wow, just wow, what a game. 17 hours, 46 minutes all up.
Not sure where it sits overall in terms of Naughty Dog games, but top 5 all time is looking pretty damn solid. Will have to go through again on Survivor and then Survivor+ to really get a good grasp I think.
Ending Spoiler:
Not the ending I expected, must say. I expected one of Joel or Ellie to die, if not both. But I guess this means they leave it open to a sequel.
The game just spoke to so many of my general likes in gaming. The whole Hitman-esque do what you want encounters, take it stealth or go balls out or make your mind up halfway through. Restarting to perfect certain encounters.
The real adventure aspect of the story was great too, as was the relationship between Joel and Ellie throughout and the development. You really do feel like you've gone on this huge journey with them by the end, learning so much about each other. Very well done.
Now to go through this thread and read every spoiler!
STATS:
LIFE AND DEATH
Total Kills: 676
Total Deaths: 68
Ally Deaths: 3
Damage Taken: 7188
Currently a couple of hours in, not much more to say than this is Naughty Dog through and through.
It's no wonder Naughty Dog and Rockstar North are the no.1 and 2 devs in the world right now, the way they make their games, the attention to detail, the using of elements in one game as a building block to the next while still keeping it relevant in the previous and upgrading it from there. Every game they make is not only innovative and pushing the genre forward but it's also just a stepping stone for their next title. Just amazing.
I've been waiting for you to finish to ask you this, because of potential spoilers, but who did you think he was voicing at that point? Because he voiced
David
but there's no way you'd have met him by then. And I have been trying to think of who else you picked up on, even in subsequent playthroughs.
Regarding the ending
Ellie knew he was lying. There is no way in my mind that she didn't know. She's a smart kid and it shows this throughout the game (she picks up that Tess is infected before Joel clues on, knows how to drive a car, stuff about Joel's daughter once she hears about her amongst other stuff). A motif of the game is finding something to survive for, and she has become the sole reason why Joel has kept going after Tess' death. He says as much to Marlene at the firefly camp near the end. (paraphrasing) 'You came all the way across the country to here? Why?' 'It was her'.
I think she knows she is the reason Joel is still trudging along, and therefore knows that if she were to die for whatever reason it would also mean the death of Joel, which is why she accepts the lie. Keep in mind the first thing she notices when she wakes is her clothes, and if the fireflies aren't looking for a cure anymore; there's no need for an operation, which would make those clothes redundant.

I caught wind of his voice as one of the hunters near the beginning of the game.
At this point, I had no idea he actually voiced a significant character in the game.
It was only a minor moment, but I know I heard it. The scene specifically was around when you find out that Ellie is infected and have to evade the guys there.
Right, I thought it must have been something like that once I saw his name in the credits with who he played. His work there is phenomenal. It also blew me away a bit when I realised Troy Baker played Joel and Booker. Fantastic acting.
All I picked up on was the Wilhelm scream very early in the game. Ever since I thought to look that up after reading imdb trivia sections once too many times I can't help but pick up on them whenever they occur.
I think it's a great ending because all along I would guess most people thought one of the two would die. After such a horrific adventure through a broken and corrupt world it was a nice contrast to have a happy ending. Perfect ending + leaving the door open for a sequel IMO (although I read an interview where one of the leads said that a new game in the same world wouldn't NECESSARILY follow Ellie and Joel).
