I bowled someone around their legs once.

I've not bowled them around the legs, but twice spun balls from a long way outside leg to square up blokes and hit off. It's makes you feel invincible when it happens, but you know deep down that shits a total fluke :D

I bowled someone around their legs once.

in the good old days of astro turf I once bowled a guy around the legs while bowling medium pace. The grass was too high, the ball was heading well down leg, hit the "curb" just right, bounced off the side and straight onto the stumps. Bowled 'em!

I usually write the days in my diary when I can get one to turn... and any drift I get is usually the continental plates movin.0

March 5th 2004 I think I got one to turn, though it may have just hit a honkey nut.

I have a huge variety though - about 14 deliveries that all go straight....

as long as they do nothing in 14 different ways then that's one hell of an arsenal

So you've masted the zooter, slider, fizzer, arm ball?

Reminds me of a video of Warne bowling Bell. It was a leg spinner that went straight, Bell left it and it crashed into middle stump. Richie claimed it as the "slider to end all sliders" :P

Bell couldn't read the slider at all.

all warne had to do was to rip leggies for a couple of overs and then chuck the slider in.

Bell was legit all at sea, made him look stupid did warne. and bell is a very good bat

Absolutely - with the exception that all of them are pies and haven't looked like deviating of their orignal line. ;)

I can describe me leg spin bowling in one moment. Was under 17's and I got the number 4 and 5 out in a row, and on a hattrick.. Bowled a wide. About 2 metres off the pitch.

Leg spin to a T. Either the hero or the villan.

Had a similar moment. My first 2 wickets that I ever took were in a row...so naturally I thought I was the shit, turns out I can drop 'the'! My hat-trick ball bounced at least twice, and none of those were anything like pitch!

So you going to play next season?

I might play a bit this season, my mate keeps pestering me about it because they don't have a decent spinner.

I like giving it flight and getting some loop and drift. Gets you tonked a bit but I do love me some wickets.

Count me as a leg spinner.

I used to watch a fair bit of Warne and tried to copy him when I was younger. Definitely not a good move though because Warne had some technical anomalies.

Best was 4/10. We had already defended a modest total bowling out a much more fancied opponent to win on first innings. We needed five wickets to get a bonus point in about 12 overs of play, and I took the fifth with the last ball of the match.

I think I've bowled my Afridi-style leggies in one match only, an under 17s match back in the day. Felt like top shit taking 2/22 in 5: a skied caught & bowled, and one bloke pretty unlucky to be given lbw on the front foot. No harm in asking...and he was plumb a few balls before.

I remember that game for my match-winning 9*(32) at the end to bring it home.

Bowled for a while, tried a Warnie action, had great days and shit days as you all would know.

But injuries have crippled me, shoulder problems, third finger problems, knee problems, hip problems. Basically I had to give it up coz I'm a trainwreck physically now. Still trying to undo all the damage at my physio which have been fantastic but been visiting for half a year regularly

So am a retired leggie now. Best advice for leggies would be, unless you're as strong as Warnie with as big a pair of hands, don't try to copy his action. You're gonna destroy yourself. a Macgill like action with a proper run up is the way to go, particularly with an art that requires so much force put on the ball as wrist spin while maintaining good pace

I missed by inches a couple of times - just bounced over the pegs. Once was my cousin (campaigner, would have been epic at Xmas time), and once was the opposition captain. Did it a few times in the nets.

DrV with the impenetrable defence. :thumbsu:

The 28-ball duck in under 12s I made 10 years ago was a club record up until two weeks ago when some little snot-head decided to guts it out for 52 balls  27(73), 15*(68), 18*(71), 34(93) remain personal highlights. I really am an awful batsman but love dropping anchor for a few hours.

This thread makes me want to get back out on the field again :(

I played for many years with my cousin who is a very enthusiastic, if untalented, leggie. I think he tried to copy Warnie's action but it went horribly wrong somewhere and there's a jump in the air which leads to horrific full-tosses being dished up on regular occasions. Could spin the ball and had a handy wrongun, with an average of 19 but a strike rate of 17 lol.

Man I could watch this stuff all day. Desperately need ome of all the times Warne got Strauss as well just for the lulz.

Alec Stewart (14 times)
Nasser Hussain (11)
Ashwell Prince (11) - wouldn't have picked that
Michael Atherton (10)
Graeme Thorpe (9)
Ashley Giles (9)
Mark Boucher (9)
Steve Harmison (9)
...and on 8 we have: Strauss, Trescothic, Dravid, Craig McMillian, Dave Richardson, Hansie, Caddick.

Best thing about McMillian was that he actually thought he played Warne well.

Always found it interesting that Bell absolutely smashes the Merlin bowling machine when its set to replicate Warne, the best English bat against it by a mile
