I'm doing a bit of research into the Leopold Football Club. This Club was formed in 1889 in the Port Melbourne/South Melbourne area and survived until 1924 when it changed its name to the South Melbourne 2nd XVIII and should not be confused with the Club around the Geelong area. It originally played on the PMCG and then later on the SMCG from 1901. It was highly successful winning the Premiership in 1897 (South Suburban Junior FA), 1900, 1910, 1911, 1913 (Metropolitan Junior FA - the original name of the VAFA) and then played in the newly formed Victorian Junior League (the original name for the VFL 2nds/Reserves) from 1919 until 1924. The Club colours were Red & Blue.

1) Why were they called Leopold? was it after Prince Leopold - one of Queen Victoria's children or a long since delicensed hotel or something else??
2) What was their guernsey ? Stripes, hoops etc ???
3) They played against other teams like Beverley (Richmond based) and South St.Kilda. Why was Beverley called that name? South St.Kilda were highly successful winning the premiership in the MJFA in 1893, 1894, 1895, 1897 yet disbanded at the end of 1899. What happened to the Club to cause its demise.
4) I have found one picture of them on Trove but there must be other photos of them out there as they are mentioned in reports of their AGM.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
