The West Australian described it as "Ley throwing down the gauntlet to Labor over energy prices".

The West is 100% behind the fossil fuel lobby on this. Jeez even the Australian at least had one opinion piece from a Liberal “moderate” trying to warn about how they can’t form heightens without appealing to city voters.

Was never a great fan of the man, but what exactly was his likeability problem based on?
He was a below average media performer and a not much of a politician.
He's a back room man
I think it's going to be interesting to see how history stacks Shorten up against the other Coalition and Labor leaders who took their parties to an election but never became PM. Thinking about the list, there's Dutton, Crean, Beazley, Hewson, Peacock... I think Shorten's banked a lot of credits post 2019 and post 2022.
Latham.

Shorten was a decent minister I agree

It has been decidedly conservative since about 30 years ago.

Fortunately it appears the electorate isn't reading it any more.

That is the way of the commercial media - where twenty years ago, people read the print media be default, now the media companies have to drive people to read the media - and they do so by 'outrage'

What’s the policy to bring down costs????? lol I’ll wait fur your response.
The energy policy is to not pursue emissions reduction at any cost. I'm not saying it's necessarily a good policy, but to criticise them for the policy and not having a policy at the same time is just criticising them for their mere existence.

Apologies if my response is not satisfactorily furry.

Your response is nothing … like the Libs policy. Yes they are just existing… just opposing science and mathematics for a point of difference… it’s just dumb.
There is no policy.

Renewables is the cheapest form of new generation… so explain to me how they will bring down prices with out encouraging investments in renewables?

That’s not a policy. That’s just negative statement. There’s no plans about what sources they will use, what targets they plan to have, what the costings will be.

They couldn’t even say what the price reduction will be under their “policy”. They even said they are “agnostic” about what tech should be used. The “I dunno” policy.

Of course we know behind the scenes it’ll just be subsidies for coal and gas, they won’t say it publicly (Canavan has).

Imagine going to war against renewables that are offering 4 hours of free power a day!!!!!
With 110,000 home batteries just since July, more EVs etc,,, Vehicle to grid uptake starting go get momentum…
Wholesale prices falling…. This is not the issue they want to fight for. Absolute idiots.

It doesn’t get spoken about much in national media but in WA the uptake of rooftop solar is so much more than expected that the state government will turn off the only coal powered station earlier than scheduled.

Good. This shit stain of a party can take its hatred of women, young people, the poor, Indigenous Australians, first generation Australians, future generations of Australians etc. and soon be consigned to the dustbin of history. What a disgrace. I'm surprised they've even got 20% support, with the Nats on a miserable 4%, with a good proportion of stupid, mean, whinging, whining, Australia hating boomers moving to One Nation.
