The Liberal Party - How long? - Part 2

Shaun Carney: The only reason for committing to net zero is that you believe in the science backing climate change.

The Coalition backed it for four years, now Ley calls it an “ideological target”

The media need to hound the Coalition relentlessly on this.

But they won’t, because they want to maintain some sense of a contest, when in reality there is no contest, merely an existential global threat being politicised by a bunch of chancers who by rights should be wearing ankle bracelets, not presuming to lead a nation.

It’s criminal how the media aren’t attacking the LNP.
And we know why the corporate media is ignoring it.

The reason why it’s criminal is the lack of trust it is causing towards the journalism….

Journalism is the most important pillar of democracy.

The Liberal Party is trying to outflank Pauline Hanson. The Rinehart/IPA coup is nearly complete.

The clueless "moderates", (dummies is a better description) of the Liberal Party, have been run around in circles by the degenerates of the far right for years.

They've been using these dummies to try and sell a "caring and compassionate" image so as to not reveal the insidious machinations of these extremists and protectors of unbridled capitalism and the chief dummy, Sussan Ley, has handed them the Liberal Party on a plate.

The photos of Hanson with Rinehart meeting in a restaurant in Thailand and now Hanson giving a speech, that's right, a SPEECH! to the MAGA maggots at Mar-a-Lago, is overwhelming evidence that the plot is to consolidate the right wing, racist, bigoted and the Christian fundamentalist vote and to completely purge the dummies - their usefulness is over.

The Liberal Party is dead and it will be interesting to see if they persist with the name "Liberal". I can't see them keeping that moniker because that won't go down well with those that are left in the Liberal Party. They will probably call themselves the "Conservative" Party and try and pitch themselves as the party of common sense and upholding "Australian values". They have flagged what they "stand for" by abandoning the belief that climate change is real to now being "agnostic" at best to climate change. They will attack non-Christians, blame migrants for fabricated problems, attack China or whoever and tell us we are vulnerable and under prepared defensively and fight like buggerry to keep coal mines and power stations afloat for as long as possible.

The short answer to your question SBD Gonzalez: "What could they possibly have in mind?", is that the far right/MAGA lot has resolved to act now whilst there is still some 30 months to go before an election in the hope that the so called "middle class", will swallow the gloom and doom, the racism and xenophobia, that they are peddling and are hoping that there is some sort of seismic economic collapse world wide they can blame on the ALP/renewables.

The problem Gina and MAGA have is that the Sky News echo chamber they felt so comfortable in and thought that they actually could win the last election, backfired completely and left them at the margins of mainstream politics and have made them unelectable for at least, at LEAST, one more term by which time, coal will have disappeared form the grid and renewables will be powering Australia.

The term the yanks use I believe for this type of desperation is a "hail Mary pass" - they are going the whole hog mate!
Much as I loathe Gina Rinehart, I don’t think she’s stupid.

They LNP are positioning themselves if a massive correction in the stock market occurs … and will blame Labor, poor people and immigrants.

It’s the only play they have.
Much as I loathe Gina Rinehart, I don’t think she’s stupid.
The Australian stock market follows the US like a lost sheep and Trump will manipulate the US market to ensure it keeps powering on and up.

Define 'stupid'?

Ruby Jones question to Susan Ley

“And they also do want to hear about you and what you believe. If you had been a supporter of net zero at one point, now you're not. You were once in the Parliamentary Friends of Palestine group, but changed your position.

You once supported Graeme Sanyal's recommendations on environmental reform, but you changed your mind. So at this point, is it fair enough that many Australians might feel that they don't really know what it is that you believe?”

Great question hey?

It would be a great question for the "mainstream" media to ask her as well. Be good to hear the morning breakfast shows on commercial telli asking her that question as well.

I wonder if they will? hahahahahahaha ....

Oh no no, the dog's not stupid. Everything she does is for her benefit, just like her racist father.
But as I asked the other day, even allowing for an avarice that qualifies as a mental illness, surely the mega-rich can see that they (usually) make even more money if they back the winning horse?

Maybe not stupid but maybe not smart either. Just has a ridiculous amount of resources at her disposal and people willing to do her bidding. Don't need smarts to take advantage of that.

God this stupid shit. The only thing worse than the Liberal Party is those commentators who pretend it’s something more than it is.

Being a liberal is still exactly what it has been for decades: representing the rich, big business, big money and vested interests while relying on your partners in the (increasingly irrelevant) mainstream media to cover your tracks and distract in order to fool ordinary people into voting for you against their own interests.

It’s not even mildly complex, the swindle lives on (though it’s on its last legs).

With all the attention these commentators give the libs it feels like they're in government and Labor are the opposition

A lot of the prominent political reporters today are pumped up gossip columnists and much prefer the drama to actually looking at policy positions. And currently, the government is fairly boring and the opposition are falling apart.

I listen to the ABC politics daily podcast and the different level of excitement in Patricia Karvelas' voice when she's talking about intra-party conflict as opposed to actually discussing substantive things is considerable.

Feels like a lot of them are just publicly grieving the death of their favourite party too

Rinehart doesn't give a **** about the Liberal Party, they are a conduit to help her achieve more wealth and for her, having a political party(ies) that are her mouth piece whether in Government or not, keeps her agendas on the boil.

Rinehart has invested in rare earth metals and lithium mines as well in some geothermal I believe.

Like you said, she's not stupid and she knows that the future is renewables and she also knows that her political parties will keep banging the drum for current investments.

Greed and a rapacious need for wealth is her obsession and it doesn't matter which political party it is, she'll get as much milage out of them as possible.

Yep. The Liberal Party's overlord crawled over her dead father to steal from her own children. This low life sociopath sees value only in what she can use for personal gain, to be discarded once utility is exhausted.

But is she getting as much mileage as possible out of the Labor government that's in office, if it's her obsession with the Coalition abandoning net zero that's one of the prime movers behind their self-destruction?

This would be influenced by a number of "All Australian Voters" wanting the worst Liberal leader who will lose the election for them.

The "Don't Know" answer could probably be replaced with Don't Care and capture a bunch of never-Liberal voters. Or maybe they simply don't know or care, which might be worse. It's certainly a shallow pool of talent. None of these people has broad appeal.

Sussan the bush-whacking numerologist who owns apartments on the Gold Coast.
Hastie the God-Fearing ex-soldier who I'm sure is convinced there is only right and wrong and nothing in between.
I actually don't know anything about Ted O'Brien.
Angus Taylor is there to improve the budget position of the Angus Taylor Trust.
Tim Wilson is the common IPA trickle-down hypocrite who says Govt spending is waste and has spent his whole life living off Government money.

Yep, a real rogues gallery.

The Murdoch media have run with these numbers as if it’s a boost for Hastie’s leadership. In reality he only scored higher with One Nation voters and over 65s than Ley. Sussan got better numbers with younger voters.

So if Hastie is made leader he’ll probably bring back some of the vote lost on the right to One Nation, but will have trouble attracting the younger and centrist voters they need to win marginal seats.

Hastie has stated that he’s not sure if the Liberal Party can survive. With him in charge it would be a certainty. Perhaps he can do a deal with the ageing Pauline Hanson and get naming rights for a united Coalition/One Nation Party.

I like Tim Wilson’s sense of humour btw.

Hey Timbo is the Green voter’s preferred LNP leader!
