I think a lot of people are way too harsh on Warnock, he gets the job done and is very handy when someone goes down e.g Garland at the moment.

Dunn is having a few bad weeks so does that mean he should be shown the door? If that's the case then half the list should go. He was very good last year and is the type of player that can have a good 10-15 mins and break a game open.

MacDonald gets the job done as well and can be used up forward like he was on the weekend until Tappy went down.
Warnock and MacDonald don't get the job that's why they play so much VFL football. They are dumb footballers and are basically band aid solutions. Unfortunately Warnock is playing OK ATM but he will definately let us down,it's just a matter of time.

Dunn a few bad weeks? What about a few bad years? He saved his ass in the last half of last year, now he's back to as useless as he ever was. Still like his mate Bate can't take an overhead mark.

If that dud Taylor Walker ever makes his way to our side that's it I'll have had enough. I'll be off to Richmond with BigSexc, MFC Forever and Miller.

Wouldn't mind a Warnock at the Hawks at the moment. Hypothetically what would you be looking for if he was on the trade table?

He is actually a pretty handy backup key defender - possibly the best one going round in the VFL so you would have to make it worth our while. I hesitate to say a late first rounder/early second. Not sure you'd offer that up - although you did pay for Hale.

just doing a little research, Luke Shuey was a Melbourne supporter, he modelled his game around Nathan Jones, West Coast is having a crack at Daniel Rich, We should have a crack at Shuey, What do we give up for him?

WCE wouldnt let Shuey go - they love him. If we could unsettle him then Morton and a draft pick might get it done, but if we're going to trade aggressively then we should be looking at forwards and rucks I would haev thought.

I dont think it is as simple as "being dropped to the rookie list". When it happened with Juice and Meesen, they were both still contracted if im not mistaken, so instead of just letting them go (but still paying them), we took the gamble of getting them back in the rookie draft? Other clubs could've picked them up.

I might be wrong about the Juice/Newton thing, but yeah... there is no easy/guaranteed way of "dropping" players to a rookie spot from the senior list.
McNamara was out of contract, given another year on the rookie list.

Warnock has shown that he is a solid player, he's not the greatest but he gets the job done. Frawley getting caught holding the ball in the back line last week trying to take on the whole saints team was dumb, does that mean he should go? If we get rid of both Warnock and MacDonald, who will come in if we get injuries like wehave now? Tom Mcdonald? a guy who hasn't played a senior game yet? I'm sure Tom will be good but I would rather have someone that you know can play at this stage.

Dunn is a good player, it's not his fault he got played as a tagger for a year or so. As for Taylor Walker, how can you say he's a dud? Seriously the guy can play, he just needs to work on his defensive side of his game-like most young players.

Gone:
Bate - thought he had another year on a deal?
Macdonald - yep not really up to it

Trade/? Delist
Morton - For a first round offer I'm there
Warnock - 3rd round/player might be a good deal
Jake Fitzpatrick - Could go either way, injury might be a key factor. I still think he's got talent and our lack of other ruck/forward types will help him.
Austin Wonaeamirri - You have to question how much he wants it, because when he's not fit he doesn't deliver. Obviously his preseason this year was rocked by the death of his father and uncle, which is a legitimate excuse, but he has to prove he can bounce back.

Keep
Stefan Martin - At worst he's solid ruck depth
Max Gawn - Progressing nicely
Brad Green - Lack of leadership gets him another year
Tom Scully - Must keep
Colin Sylvia - Must keep

Rookie demotion
Spencer coming off a knee must be a prime example for this, but I'm not sure on how it is possible.

Rookie promotion
I'd be looking to avoid this. Evans is probably the one we want elevated but I'd try to keep him on the rookie list. The others haven't showed nearly enough yet

Trade bait
Strauss, Blease, Dunn

Ok these 2 points have me stunned... Warnock is a much better player than a 3rd rounder, hawthorn gave up a pick in the 20s didnt they for Hale and id say hes around that mark... clubs were keen to get him during trade week last year and were told hes off the table...

Blease on the other hand is bloody rediculous... the kid has had to over come his broken leg and then really is only in his second yr of afl footy after he was the youngest player in the 08 draft... hes just starting to play some good footy in the vfl and his pace nd skills are exactly what we need and u want to get rid of him? unbelievable

Yeah, but any other club could have taken him in the rookie draft before us if they wanted him... so by "demoting" out of contract players to the rookie list, we run the risk of other clubs taking them in the rookie draft before us.

Frawley's an All Australian, he's young, he can play a variety of roles and can give us some run down back, everything that Warnock can't do.

I hate playing band aid solutions because chances are one of them will step up. That man ATM is Warnock and that's only because we are a crap team, when we become better and games become more intense he will let us down because he fumbles, he can't kick and he is just a dumb footballer.

MacDonald is Warnock's twin, probably more useless than Warnock because he can't play a key post. All he did was show his lack of awareness and allowed Goddard to find some form.

I'm not a fan of better the devil we know, play the kids because we are back to the dark days when our experienced players continually let us down.

Can we have a vote to ban the negative ********s around here who obviously have no idea?

Surely they are just very subtle trolls?

Face facts. The negatives are true, the club couldn't have stuffed up this year anymore if they tried.

When club does their job properly then you won't see negatives, poor game plan, piss weak performances, poor leadership, bringing in our constant failures ahead of young kids, recruiting talls when it's a midfielders game. Keep on burying your head in the sand it suits you.

The negatives are true, but pushing the Panic Button as a supporter does absolutely nothing.

You seem like the kind of guy that would complain if we won a Grand Final by 3000 points because in the last quarter someone turned the ball over.

Your probably the same ******** that sat behind me at the Brisbane game giving everyone shit, and then when we kicked a goal, not a peep, not a clap, no encouragement and joy out of it at all.

You know when the teams push the panic button? It's when they bring back the players that continually fail like MacDonald, Warnock, Bate, Newton etc and won't drop players that must be dropped just because we haven't got experienced players.

Experienced players like Davey aren't needed because they don't set the right examples, experienced players like Junior are the type of experienced players needed.

You don't just add or keep experienced players just because they are experienced, you play them because they can add value to the team which most of our experienced players don't.

Going for youth isn't hitting the panic button, it's quite the opposite. Remember I was the one who thought we should of stayed around the bottom for 1 more year to give us a better chance in the draft to fill our holes but everyone wanted us to over achieve so we can create this winning culture.

Where is this winning culture now? All we have done is cost ourselves draft picks. I haven't hit the panic button, the club has, they have been reluctant to put our kids in except Tapscott. Evans should have come in against the Roos, Blease should of come in against the Saints and Gawn, Howe, Strauss and Nicholson should come in this week.

Our only shining lights were Watts, Gysberts and Evans, hopefully that shows Bailey that he has to go back to basics, play the kids and stop relying on our experienced players that fail time and time again.

Completely agree with you. In the space of 12 months he has gone from injured/battling at Casey 2's to now pushing for senior selection at Melbourne. Yes injuries have helped his cause, but he was thereabouts before our injuries struck. For mine if he can improve again in the next 12 months like the previous 12 i see him in our best 21+1 in 2012.

Wouldn't mind a Warnock at the Hawks at the moment. Hypothetically what would you be looking for if he was on the trade table?

Maybe if Melbourne was interested in Jordan Lisle, not sure if Hawks would let him go, otherwise young player with pace/skills. I'd say most probable is a draft pick, probably Hawks first as that's likely to be about pick 20 & their next pick would be about 40 & that wouldn't be enough.

I might be wrong about the Juice/Newton thing, but yeah... there is no easy/guaranteed way of "dropping" players to a rookie spot from the senior list.

There is a way if no one else is willing to take them. What we did with Juice was delist him while still in contract, see if anyone else would take him in the draft (if someone does they take the liability of his contract & we'd only have to pay the shortfall between new & old contract if there is one). If no one takes them we then rookie list & just pay him at his contract rate.

Suggesting delisting/trading Blease is a joke. Strauss won't be delisted either, very small potential to be traded but only if someone was super interested & were paying overs.

Cant beleieve Bate is contracted until the end of next year. Must be traded away at any cost. Spud. Currently offers less to us than Newton.

I just can't believe how far backward Bate has gone over the past year. He's effectively a glorified witches hat now. I just can't see how he has a future in the AFL anymore.

Bate=GONE

No kick, no handball, no run, no persistence

Expect him to be traded for a mid 50s pick

Newton for a bottle of Just Juice, would do more in the back half :thumbsu:

Pay him out, put him on the rookie list I don't care just get rid of him.

Just goes to show how woeful our list management has been. I would just love to see a Malthouse just come in and clean out the joint out. The whole club is an embarrassing joke.

The more they hold on to Bailey the more worried I am on Scully leaving. He has got nothing out of this team in 4 years, give someone else a go FCS.

who would you have Malthouse 'clean out' that isnt already going to be 'cleaned out' at the end of the year anyway?

Jordan Lisle, please. Huge fan.

Player I want gone?

The obvious: Juice, Bate, Warnock (as a trade though, with our young defs in Davis and McDonald having an extra pre-season in them, and undoubtedly drafting another def) and McNamara

From left field:
- Fitzpatrick rookied (with a senior spot being left open for him; basically only to provide us with a ND pick)
- Campbell delisted, he came as a rookie but is constantly injured... Martin, Gawn, Spencer, Fitz are more than enough back up rucks
- Macdonald, he certainly is a blule collar player, but he is limited. Would rather us draft a good user and competitor off the HBF in the first round and play Strauss and Blease. The reality is if Grimes is fit, Macdonald will not be needed in the side.
- The club will want to upgrade Nicholson and Evans I would imagine... so if we have another player eligible for the Veterans list ie. Jamar (?) then we upgrade them
- Wonna, isn't fit enough to be an AFL player, he has skill (plenty) but if he doesn't improve by the end of the season... rookie him.

It will be interesting to see how the club conducts itself, some tough choices will have to be made.

Royal, Prendagast, Harrington. Let the coach that comes in get rid of them all and bring in his own team. Except Viney, we need his son to be happy.
