I'm going to start this thread with some glowing figures about our coach Ken Hinkley. A coach at the top of his game!

I want you to then add your favourite stats. I'm sure we're going to find a few gems.

In 2014 we were sitting 2 games a top the table, past mid year and still finished 5th, but you know what after that good finals series there was a lot of excitement around. A youthful and choc full of talent list, a reserves side that also made the GF and some outstanding trades.

What's happened in the 5 seasons since:

Finals Won0
Finals Appearances1
Winning Ratio59 W / 52 L53.15%
Adelaide Oval Record33 W / 28 L54.10%
Showdown Ratio3 W / 7 L30.00%
Winning percentage in games decided by 10 points or less7 W / 17 L29.17%
Winning percentage in games decided by 20 points or less13 W / 24 L35.14%
Record Vs Top 8 sides15 W / 37 L28.85%
Record Vs Bottom 10 sides44 W / 15 L74.58%
Goalless Quarters in 20187
Goalless Quarters in 20197
Would love to know the number of failed/token comebacks we've had, I'm sure REH has some numbers on our winning percentages by month as well and would love to see whether our percentage drops away toward the end of the year as we approach another epic collapse as we did in 2014, 2016, 2018 and now 2019, etc, etc.

Our Attacking Prowess:
Our leading goal kicker in 2019 was a 1st year small forward with 29 goals.
It was the equal 2nd lowest total of goals to win the award since 1952.
Since 2014, our leading goal kicker award has been won by small forward 4 times out of 5.

Given the state of our forward line has had me tearing my hair out since 2014, my favourite stat is this:

Jake Neade 66 games under Hinkley
Kane Mitchell 35 games under Hinkley
Sam Gray 92 games under Hinkley
Nathan Krakouer 29 games under Hinkley
Cam O'Shea 59 games under Hinkley
Andrew Moore 36 games under Hinkley
Aaron Young 64 games under Hinkley
Paul Stewart 36 games under Hinkley
Cam Sutcliffe 3 games under Hinkley

Middling 2nd/3rd tier honest triers games under Hinkley total: 420 games

John Butcher 19 games under Hinkley
Billy Frampton 3 games under Hinkley
Todd Marshall 16 games under Hinkley
Dougal Howard 13 games under Hinkley as a forward (6 games in 2016 and 7 in 2019)
Mason Shaw 0 games under Hinkley

Developing Key Position Forward games under Hinkley total: 51

And the culmination of that is the weekend's game against GWS where we didn't pick a recognised KPF, and comically bombed the ball to Phil Davis without an opponent over and over again. 7 years into Hinkley's tenure, that was the best we had to offer. The lack of respect that Ken Hinkley has shown to forward structure is absolutely ridiculous.

lol - good work but you only needed to list Jake Neade. His 66 games has all of the developing KPFs covered by 15 games.

After the first half of 2014, we have been the Kings of mediocrity.

Record (1H v 2H of the Season)
2014, 10-1 v 4-7
2015, 5-6 v 7-4
2016, 6-5 v 4-7
2017, 6-5 v 8-3
2018, 7-4 v 5-6
2019, 6-5 v 2-5
TOTAL, 40-26 v 30-32

Since our first loss at Adelaide Oval in 2014 (over 5 years ago), our record at our ‘home’ ground is:

34 wins & 31 losses

Thank goodness for the visits of Gold Coast, St Kilda, North Melbourne and the time Ross Lyon had locked in a home QF and decided to send the Peel Thirds, eh?

I love how in John Butchers second last game he had 20 disposals, took 11 marks and kicked 4 goals.

Just for comparison, jake neade never cracked 20 disposals in any of his 66 games. He also kicked 4 once.

And he was delisted at the end of that year despite a cooked Schulz joining him on the scrapheap, meaning our tall forward stocks for season 2017 consisted of:

Dixon, Frampton, Marshall

And all three are currently languishing in the SANFL while a geriatric ruckman serves as KPF1 (5 marks & 1 behind on Saturday).

(Note: I'm already considering this weekends game as a loss, and that we wont make finals)

I disliked reading this post as much as reading KT's email.

It's the 3 year anniversary of that game at the Gabba.

What a f***ing stupid decision to delist him there. Just ridiculous. Dixon and a first year Marshall. Frampton was more of a ruck at the point he was drafted.

I don't think I can blame Ken Hinkley for list management but the ruck crisis in 2016 and the key forward crisis from 0AWGT - present is just infuriating. Why hasn't someone lost their bloody job for that yet?

The amount of times I vowed to quit smoking since 2015: 80+

The number of cigarettes I’ve smoked at Adelaide oval since 2015 out of sheer frustration: 1.000+

Thanks ken, your s**t game plan and refusal to name a coherent forward line has probably taken a year off my life

Requesting 'cue in rack/foot off throat' stats for games where we're leading by a healthy margin (say 24+?) at HT/3QT and win by less than 2 goals or lose. Compare with the opposite, i.e. 'stirring comeback wins'?. Happy for adjustments to be made.
I feel like I need to do this analysis. You're spot on.
