Is not recruiting a KPP in this draft coming back to haunt us now?

I must admit at the time i was neither for or against what we did on the draft table that year, more i'll just wait and see, but i feel now we probably should of gone for atleast one tall IMO.

thoughts?

other than talia and even with the advantage of hindsight, which one do you rate?

sorry i should of explained better, talia is the one i was trying to get at, i know he hasnt set the world on fire either due mainly to injury, but given our rotten luck with injury to our talls, its abit hyperthetical i know, but a different home and maybe the injuries wouldnt of happened at carlton had we gone that way in the draft, and i have no doubt he would be playing in our seniors ATM, thats how highly i rated him in that draft.

If you are asking whether the club regrets their decision to pick Lucas over Talia, the answer would be no.

If you are asking whether we'd trade one for the other, the answer would still be no.

im just saying it would be very handy indeed to have another tall at our disposal right about now had we gone that way in the draft, dont get me wrong, i like lucas and think he will be a good player for carlton.

Sugar will show us all next year why we picked him. Will be a solid player for a long time

I hope

It would be, but all i'm saying is that the club would not be losing sleep over picking Lucas over Talia, not even given our current struggles in KPP depth.

Fev threads, Talia threads...good ol' days!

Welcome back knee jerkers :)

McCarthy > Talia. Heard that Watson kid will go also be a good'un. Will be interesting to see what the MC do with Andy Mac, him and Mitchell will be a pleasure to watch in years to come.

I can't imagine the MC simply forgetting to tell Lucas that he has to tackle. It has to be a confidence in his body thing.

Let him get his body right and have a big preseason so he can have a crack in 2012. Midfield depth is what we need now.

The Lucas on the training track early this year is a very different Lucas to the one struggling right now.

I'd just love to see him pulled out of the Ants for at least the next couple of weeks or even the rest of the season, if he is carrying some injury.

Let's get him right for next year and forget Talia or anyone else we haven't got.

i agree 100% with you about sugar and hope he gets back to 2010 sugar, because that player was exciting to watch :thumbsu:

in regards to the thread, i guess its just a dare to dream type scenario :o

Hope your right here.

Call me shortsighted but I'd do a Lucas/Talia swap in a heartbeat (but would bet both left and right that the Crows wouldn't). Particularly when we know it's likely that this years first pick will have to be used on another mid in Buckley.

But it matters not what any of us think as no one yet has been able to come up with a way to rewrite history. Let's all hope that Lucas lives up to our expectations and stop sucking eggs.

If we drafted Talia last year there would be next to no chance that we would have gone for Watson/McCarthy/Mitchell this year, and Talia wouldn't be making a huge difference to the side this year anyway.

I hope you've already had your kids.:)

You might be right, but for all the circle jerking over the crows picking Talia, they might well have been after our bloke ;)

That's him, the player we should've taken. He certainly played a good game Friday night, and in his second year for a tall. Not bad. Didn't need hindsight, many of us advocated taking him at the time. A year later we try to get him in a trade for Jacobs.

I think I might've got that one right even though you "head me over the head" for it many times. I know who i want now and who we really needed more. Like being right!

:) No you wouldn't.

In order to be able to make such a swap, you'd have to be in a position to understand the circumstances that surround Lucas not being in our team right now.
Much too loose a comment a comment based on?

There may be some Youtube clips to remind you of just what you can expect from Lucas when he gets back to match fitness.

Ah yes I would, but admit not without misgivings as I hate the trade meat market particularly when it involves young guys who have yet to show their full credentials.

Unfortunately where I am I see no Bullants games so have no idea how Lucas is going other than what I read here. On the other hand I have seen and been pretty impressed with Talia in his 2 games (not looking to compare draft picks, merely a special interest as I've been carrying him all year in my DT).

Will never happen and you're right it may be shortsighted but we have struggled with talls all year (and the last couple for that matter). We have high hopes for our young talls but also did for Livingstone, Hartlett and Austin.

Comment was, therefore, based on what I see as our most pressing need.

You don't have to agree but thats the way I roll.

Don't worry about the spin. I'd swap Lucas for Talia in a heartbeat too. No room for Lucas in our team, we have lots of his type, plenty for Talia though. Who do we need more and why did we try to trade for Talia last year. There's alot of good players on You Tube in the top 20 or so.

Yes thanks, Uni educated and pillars of society.

Not a circle jerk just a somewhat uneducated opinion of our strengths and weaknesses
