Re: I hate to say it.....

It doesn't take long for the knives to come out? Does it? Some people just can't help themselves.

Tom's been good for us this year. Belittling his ability to take contested marks because 'he's the third man up' is ridiculous. He still makes the contests and he stills wins them. What else would you have him do?

Re: It wasn't just the loss...

These are just pathetic excuses. As the OP said, the boys who were out there tonight were certainly capable of matching it with the Pies in terms of intensity and passion but there wasn't any of that. They were slow and dismal. It didn't matter to me that much that we lost tonight. It was how we played... utterly insipid.

their not excuses mate their just facts. Its not possible for us to play at the same intesity as other sides every week, we are the hunted every side puts in 100% every week against us.the pies want play at that level every week no one can

Re: I hate to say it.....

It actually shows how hard he works to get across and help out his team mates....thats leadership.

That works great when your playing crap sides who don't pump the ball in fast and often like the Pies did tonight. What if he doesn't mark the ball(likely)?? Hey? His man is crumbing, waiting to make the offensive play.

Collingwood have more quality forwards than most teams. Harley can't be relied on to take a DEFENSIVE POST. Do understand the meaning of this? Normally he plays on some hack who he can easily leave to hit the other packs... pfft.. he's nothing.

Mate, the knives have been out for months now. Harley himself had to come out and tell people to lay off...fat load of good that did when they turn around and fall asleep on us like that.

Re: How Embarrasing

####ing disgusting. The panic all because Collingwood played us tight was downright disgraceful. Then even when we had a decent chance the disposal was completely amateurish. Might as well tear their jumpers off and spit on them. That's about how much they showed they care tonight. No hunger for a contest and to work hard at any stage.

Terrible team changes tonight.

It was always going to be a "hard-ball" , "tackling" and "inside" type of game. It's Collingwood, and it's not the Dome.

The Rooke omission was bad enough as it is, but when he wasn't the one in for Chappy, and Varcoe was, it was terrible.

We had a team of boys out there in what was always going to be a match made for the men of the side.

Re: How Embarrasing

I was really disappointed with out accountability tonite, they had so many blokes out open in space and for the entire night they chased, tackled and hounded us severly. I cant belive that just a week ago collingwood struggled to get over st kilda but then they come out and play that good against us. We should take a leaf out of their book and get back to the tackling, chasing , harrassing part of our game.

Re: Terrible team changes tonight.

could not agree more! collingwood weren't particularly pretty, just very, very tough! something the man from camperdown could have brought in spades...

Twas a great game by the Pies tonight. A couple of the Cats played their guts out trying but alas it takes a whole team to fire up. Still kudos to the team that won but unfortunately I had to sit right in the middle of the their fan base........I feel so dirty..... Must rush to shower the feral spittle off.;)

Re: Ouch!!

You're gonna have a bunch of supporters saying "Oh no, season over" and I hate that. You had a single loss, and one off night... and my boys really did come at you hard (which is something no one really saw coming, not to that degree).

You're still the reigning premiers. You're still an awesome side. And even though Hawks are probably the flag favourites now, you still have a chance to change that when you play them later in the year.

Just put this behind you and move on.

No right now we do not have an awesome side.

Varcoe is an ordinary VFL player. WTF pick this fool?

Gamble was invisible tonight. He is inexperienced and this will happen often.

Mackie was absolutely disgusting. Did not matter how simple the task he could not manage it. And that's not getting into his defensive work.

Enright again was completely ineffective. Much like Mackie.

Our ruck dept is a joke without Ottens.

And to top it off Mooney and SJ have not been playing ordinary ALL YEAR!

Re: How Embarrasing

Absolutely disgraceful. I am not disappointed by the loss but rather the way we went down. Like most supporters, I didn't expect to go through the season undefeated but our form has been ordinary for most of the season and we just played like arrogant twerps tonight. How many handballs were misdirected? How many kicks were over the leading forwards? How many times did we slip over or just dive around aimlessly?

Our forwards really need to work hard together. Moons has been off the boil all year and I am a huge Moons fan so I hope he can turn it around next week. SJ needs to cut out that fancy sh|t when we're down by so much. Jimmy is not himself so probably a case of a Brownlow hangover.

Having said that, Collingwood played a super game and the deserved to win. Even if we played at our best we probably would have still lost tonight.

You are still the best team going around. I wouldn't worry too much, every team has a shocker now and again. I remember in 2004 we lost a game by around 100 pts but still won the flag.

I think you're being a bit harsh on the players. I am really disappointed with most of their performances tonight. Collingwood were no doubt great tonight (YUCK I hate saying that) our forward line inexperience really showed when we had Varcoe, Gamble and Tomahawk all there. I really do believe in these guys and I feel like when we play well as a team they all step up, tonight was just an off night.

Varcoe did some nice things, tackled and chased well. He has been playing really well the last couple of weeks in the VFL and I was not surprised that they brought him in based on those performances. The other week people were saying about Prismall that it is silly to judge him on one Seniors performance when it is so hard to step up from the VFL level. This applies to Varcoe as well, if he gets another chance next week I think we might really see what he's got.

Gamble and Tomahawk and even Moons really stuggled tonight. I'm not sure if it was the deliveries from the midfield or coz they weren't presenting well enough.

I'm struggling to find many positives out of this game, who cares guys... we are 8-1! lol

I too was a little mystified why they brought Varcoe in for Chappy. Obviously it was to try to keep a team balance but having watched Varcoe for a half last week(albeit in wet conditions) I thought he looked very average and wouldn't get a seniors gig for a while. I was wrong. I thought Rooke would have come in to give us a bit of hardness around the packs as that's what I thought tonight's game would be like. I was right except that it was the Pies who had all the hardness.

Some of us need to calm down. Everyone is disappointed but it's only one loss. I don't think Bomber is going to wield the axe over this but rather make changes that would be required like it was any other week e.g. Ottens in if finally fit and any blokes with injuries being omitted. Although I expect Varcoe to replaced if Chappy is fit. Bomber will want to see how they respond next week after what happened tonight.

Hawkins tried. That's all I can ask for. Mooney continued charging under the pass (an excruciatingly annoying habit he has developed this year, makes passes that actually are good look bad) and then spat the dumby and gave nothing. SJ's work ethic or lack thereof was downright deplorable. Stokes a number of times did not do the team thing and played about as loose when the ball went the other way as SJ.

I think we threw this game. We can now fly under the radar ;)

I agree about NAblett. He's a much better player than most people think and look out if he starts to give 100%.

We could only have beaten the pies tonight with our best football and I have only seen glimpses of that this year.

Lets get this straight, this is a geelong place and the trolls who have been on here tonight should be off the air. Go to Bay13 with the crap you want to play.

It is not one loss for Geelong, the team has not played out one game this year. They have done just enough, all year.

This year started and Bomber was worried about the condition some players were going into the season proper. Further we have had the debacle of the vic game where players played and were clearly injured. But there are to be no excuses.

Gary Ablett can not do everything, he tries his bloody guts out every single week. And you can feel his pain when the team is not performing. This guys needs support, and needs the hangers to do what they need last year, as this season will be a repeat of the 06 implosion.

This year there is clearly a divide, between the top three, the next 6-8, and the rest. Next year the league will even out further, but this year from early on, the cats and the hawks look likely gf by a stretch. It is only the clubs themselves that can fall over.

Some Geelong supporters have been kidding themselves about a few things all year.

Nathan Ablett is pivital to the team, he leads well, and takes a high number of marks. The team needs him back, and if he is ready the club should make all efforts to help him get there.

The rucks have been deplorable all year. Taps mean jack shite, as the taps to advantage have been minimal. The mids are not getting first use, and can not read ruckmen who are merely trying to touch the ball. Their presence on the ground has been minimal. West tonight showed how far off he really is. Mummy is the best of the second tiers, as he provides a contest, and has a presence. In him there is hope. Blake where are you, you tap the occasional ball and do what else. Tap to advantage is a skill you need to learn, so that you can combine with the mids, get in there and do some work, as the rucking is beyond a joke.

Ottens is not ready, and the club will do something stupid in rushing him as it is desperate. The club did something desperate last year, it traded king. It needs to let Ottens recover 100%, we can not afford him to worsen at all.

Ling is injured. For goodness sake over rule him, and play Rooke. Let his body get right. Did the same thing in 06, played injured and was bagged. He needs to get himself 100%. As at the moment is not near the form he needs to be at.

Scarlo, you are a star.

Woji, you are playing inspired football, glad you are getting back to the real form you truelly do possess.

Mooney, huff and puff, but kick some goals, you are scoring fewer goals than some mids. As a key power forward you need to lift, or thommo should send him down back to shore up the defence when needed, like tonight.

THawk, run kid. You look out of sorts, but you can run, and look great out of CHF. You provide a presence. Then back yourself and kick some goals.

Johnson, rest, your body shows you are fkd, then rest. Take weeks off, and come back when you can turn, and you have hips that are not fused.

Gamble, one great mark a game, and goal a game will not keep you in the ones.

Varcoe, stop running like an idiot, and when you apply tackles make them stick, you will get too tired doing some of the ineffective things you do. You present well, but need to learn to play the hard game.

Selwood, play like you did in the last against freo, you will win a brownlow.

Bartel, whatever it is build a bridge, and play football.

Corey, consistency is needed.

Mackie, wear gloves, do something it is like you have rubbed soap in your hands.

Milburn, wish you had a younger brother.

Stokes, play like you can, not how you think you can.

Taylor, first year and too much is expected. You are being exposed. Just hope you have more lateral vision that Kosi, cause you can be done easily.

Hunt, best year ever, hope you keep it up

West, you are part of the game, it is real apply yourself.

Enright, need more ups.

Harley, stop listening to the crowd, your performance tonight was deplorable, and all year you have not looked like it. The supporters do their own thing, and you did yours on the field. Need to ensure this sort of crap does not turn into 06 crap.

Anyone who thinks i am wrong so be it. This is the year where the cats can win another one. Next year will be a lot harder, as the mid range teams are improving and closing the gap. We don't have any boom recruits coming through, to give us a dramatic improvement. And anyone who does not think the ruck situation is dire, have a look at Ottens delivering the ball to the mids, and where the mids line up when he rucks. They back him as he provides the service to them.. The mids have not had that service, and are second guessing all the time.

I have been pissed, as i saw this coming, the only good that can come from this, is the team regroups and spanks the blues. They need to show they are back.

And for the premiership, apply the blow torch to the hawks. They are the favourites. Let every team smash their mids hard. We need to regroup, but be fully aware of where we are at.

I am Forrrest and i am frozen. (and pissed)

I can't believe the comments from some of you. Such personal attacks on some of our players. :thumbsd:

To me they seemed quite lethargic tonight. I kept screaming "punch the f...ing thing" at the tv. They were always behind.

Just an off night. We'll bounce back.

I'd forgotten what's it like to lose. It's good for the soul...........or so they say. ;)

I had a feeling we would lose by more than 10 goals this week. It had to happen. You can't take the kind of attention other sides dish up to us week in week out without feeling sore and looking flat after a while.

We took the night off. It's gonna be ok...

Bring on the Blues.

Bit harsh on a few players there mate. One thing I agree with are missing Ottens, Egan and just as importantly NAB. He is miles ahead of TH and it would be lovely to have him back, but we need to move on I guess.

At the moment I think we just look tired and a fair few of the team look like they are carrying injuries.

Gump has made a few good points. Time to stop playing blokes that are sore. IT IS NOT GOOD. I'd prefer to lose blokes who may not be that great but can work hard and chase their opponent. Ling and SJ looked hopeless and they are anything but.

Here Kitty Kitty Kitty.....

Just wasnt your night guys I guess.

For some reason at the end of 'THIS' game Mop-Top Scarlet wasnt playing up to the Magpie Fans....
The Irony of giving away a free on the siren and then a nice Medhurst goal...

No offence to Geelong Fans but Scarlet can pull his deformed head in after tonight. As far as the comment earlier in the week that "He is the Best Backman in History....Even Better Than Silvani". Get a grip ! He would struggle to rate against one of Silvani's frayed boot laces....

Scarlett did not have his best night but defensively (in terms of purely stopping the opponent) it would not have mattered who was on Rocca or Cloke. Could have been SOS, Langford, etc. They would have been badly exposed by a pathetic midfield/forward line that applied little to no pressure all night. Would also help if his captain stopped trying to be a ####ing hero with attempted marks and just punched/killed the bloody ball.
