anybody catch the fight tonite?

i'm just reading the results...

thought this would be his toughest test... against Guy Walters...

saw mundine on telly last nite... turning up sitting on the bonnet of one of those mega trucks (bigfoot or something like that)...
being an absolute smart arse, disrespectful during the press conference...

but, damn..
he won tonite... quite easily...
a knockout punch in the second...

Mundine detonated a superb straight right on the former world title contender's chin and referee Billy Males immediately stopped the bout, recognising there was no prospect of the 37-year-old veteran beating his ten count. Tonight's victory cleared the way for 26-year-old Mundine's December 1 challenge to Germany's unbeaten international Boxing Federation super middleweight Sven Ottke in Dortmund.

Personally I hope Mundine never loses..

He promised when he loses that he'll run around nude in (gosford or Woolongong forgot which one).

All i can say, is hide the women and children. And the cats and dogs, and all furry animals :D

Guy Waters hasnt got it anymore - he came out of retirement to fight last night. I thought it may have lasted a couple more rounds, but did get nailed with a nice punch.

I cant for the life of my see him beating Sven Ottke tho for the world.

This is your chance Mundine baggers - watch him Dec 2nd (our time) and you may see his mouth get shut!

LOL

He wont get KO'd tho. Ottke couldnt crack a sayo biscuit!

A national disgrace.
I was about to post the same thing....this bloke is a moron in my opinion. I can't stand boxing, but the day someone knocks him out I will be cheering - he is a fool and if he reckons the terrorists did the right thing, maybe he should plss off to a hole in Afghanistan where he belongs.

That many people have brought his comments up, but so far nobody I know actually saw the interview.

I take it he was on the today show this morning?

What exactly did he say?

Did he actually say "America deserved it"??

thanks in advance.

Just found this on NineMsn...

Mundine says US was asking for it

Boxer and Muslim Anthony Mundine opposes Australians fighting in Afghanistan and says the United States brought the September 11 attacks on itself.

The outspoken Mundine, who will fight for a world boxing title later this year, said Australians should not be involved in the war against terrorism.

"Do I support it? No," said the former rugby league star, who demolished Guy Waters in a super middleweight bout at the weekend.

"I really feel that it's not our problem," Mundine told Channel Nine's Today program.

"They call it an act of terrorism but if you can understand religion and our way of life it's not about terrorism.

"It's about fighting for God's laws, and America's brought it upon themselves (for) what they've done in the history of time."

Mundine's stance is consistent with most Muslims in Australia, according to Dr Mohsen Labban from the Supreme Islamic Council.

But while Dr Labban said most Australian Muslims disagreed with the government's decision to back the US, a survey revealed they were still behind Australian troops.

"We're discussing a political action. We believe this political move is wrong," Dr Labban said.

"It never solved the problems before and it's not going to solve them in the future. But we are completely against it.

"The survey says that 87 per cent of the Muslims support the Australian troops and 87 per cent are for Australian personnel overseas in that war because they are Australians.

"But they don't support the decision. The decision is different from the action."

Response from the aboriginal community

Aboriginals tell Mundine to stick to sport

Boxer Anthony Mundine should stick to sport instead of politics when speaking in public, an Aboriginal Legal Service spokesman said.

Mundine, a Muslim convert, said Australian troops should not be sent to the war in Afghanistan because the United States had brought the September 11 terrorist attacks on itself.

"They call it an act of terrorism but if you can understand religion and our way of life it's not about terrorism," Mundine told Channel Nine's Today program.

"It's about fighting for God's laws, and America's brought it upon themselves (for) what they've done in the history of time."

Grant Christian, assistant manager of Sydney's Aboriginal Legal Service, said the former rugby league star was entitled to his opinions as a Muslim and an Aborigine.

But airing those views in public may have caused some harm to the indigenous community, Mr Christian said.

"Personally, he can self-promote himself all he wishes but I don't believe it's a sportsman's place to comment on politics whether it's Bob Fulton, Anthony Mundine or Ian Thorpe.

"I'm sure Anthony would not like (Prime Minister) John Howard telling him how to fight or how to pass a football," Mr Christian said.

"What he said is his business, as long as he's not speaking on behalf of Aborigines.

"While Anthony is entitled to his opinions, I hope he realises the consequences that he may have caused to other Aboriginal Australians by his broadly-based comments," Mr Christian said.

I wasn't really watching it - just got out of the shower when it was on, but he was talking about America deserving it, and then suddenly they had technical problems. I bet they did that to get him off there

Joshem, the fact that a: he has played rugby and b: he is a boxer, means that the yanks won't read anything into his comments.
