He's essentially a victim of his own success.

If we'd have finished 15th last season and were currently 17th this season, he probably doesn't get sacked.

He probably would.

Not many teams would accept finishes of 15th and 17th in consecutive seasons with the same manager.

Rowett is the only name that looks decent..
the fans will be suicidal if they get Pards or O'Neil .
Actually, you'll be surprised how many wanted O'Neill back when Pearson got sacked. Some will see he's past it, but he would be welcomed.

What we need right now is someone to get instant results now, and to build the club back up again later.

And then you hear the players demanding Nigel back... fun.

He well overachieved last season, this season they have severely underachieved, the success that came from last season should have guaranteed a long term PL survival and sitting around top 10 this season.

It's not a knee jerk reaction from the owners, if it was he would have been sacked ages ago, it may seem harsh but it's 100% correct to do, now maybe with a different approach they can get some results and survive. However it could now be all too late.
People seem to forget the calibre of players brought in on the back of the title success and the fact that they should have easily been able to aim for mid-table. FFS, West Brom are 8th.

Da, if only we got ourselves some better CBs, and not use the CB we got from Spain as a RB and never actually test him out in the CB role.

That has been our biggest downfall, the failure to properly invest in CBs, especially when one considers their age.

Think you and I had a conversation about the calibre of the players Ranieri had bought, and that was a long-standing concern. Think only Gray can be considered a genuinely good get, and he was a fish in a barrel given he was doing so well the league below.

At the start of the season. I believed what we got in were improvements (well, Kante's replacement aside, though I believed Drinkwater was actually the replacement, allowing us a ball playing mid). I think I did voice some doubts on the defense and would've liked to see some young hungry prospects in there. I think if I recall, I felt that we could've done a little more, but what we had seemed to be a good start (Slimani being a very viable option, allowing us to mix it up and keep it fresh.)

I think lack of any real innovation in tactics has really hurt us in that development. Then again, the transfers itself... how is it possible to go through January without a proper permanent transfer for a CB? Just... how?!

I still think even now, the players we got in are good. Slimani, Ndidi, Amartey (last season, but showing class this season), and Grey have been top notch. I would've given Hernandez more of a shot, and Musa, I think a bit more time. He has to be the Vardy replacement. There is some talent there, and he's got leadership, but he's still too inconsistant, and is kinda reminding me of Jeff Schlupp in a way.

Sometimes you can't have one without the other, but lack of defense drafting, even in January of all times, yeah, that was shocking.

Plenty would have. It just depends on the context of the 17th finish.

If you coast for most of the season between 12-15th and never really in danger of relegation, then 17th is fine. If you're dropping into the relegation zone and looking in a bad way, then yes a change might be made. But plenty of clubs would be happy if they knew that they would definitely stay up in consecutive seasons regardless of finishing place.

Bollocks, Bournemouth themselves are riding on the success of actually staying up the first time, you are factually incorrectly to suggest 'plenty of teams' would.
Burnley, Hull, Bmouth, Swansea, Boro, would all be quite happy just to stay up this season and next, regardless of finish.

Can throw Palace and Sunderland on that list if they don't end up relegated this season.

Pardew would probably still be at Newcastle if Palace hadn't poached him. Allardyce would still be at Sunderland if he hadn't been offered the England job.

I think they should have waited a couple more weeks. It was a great result in Seville. It might have given them a boost in the league and they are still in with a chance of progressing in the CL. But I can understand why the owners pulled the plug. Leicester's league form is dire.
