the Mark Bolton trade

As reported, the possibility of Croad coming home - is NOT linked to the Rawlings deal.

However, the Rawlings deal is seemingly ALWAYS being linked with Mark Bolton (Essendon), and the Kangaroos.

But - a concern..?

Is this how it pans out?

Hawks - gain Mark Bolton; lose Rawlings

Roos - gain Rawlings; lose pick 9

Dons - gain pick 9; lose Bolton

Excuse me while I top myself. Bolton is ABSOLUTELY NOT worth pick 9. If the Bombers want pick 9, we need at least one more quality established player from them.

Correct me if i've misread this.. Who are the other players being touted in this trade loop?

Its picks 9 and 24 that the Dons are (supposedly) getting. We get Bolton.

Btw if you want company on the topping yourself I think theres a mass suicide being organised for 2:05 tomorrow at Linda crs.

Well your management turned down the chance to get Pick 9 and a player (Baird I think) from us, I don't think Bolton's a huge upgrade on Baird...

Both are total crap for the hawks, good KPP are very rare and I believe if you get a smaller player he must be great compared to the KPP.
Draft picks in this years draft are not worth as much as previous drafts too. Especially below 8.

Cant agree with you more.. What are the hawks thinking by exchanging pick 9 for bolton. Dont mind if we get him , but not for pick 9. Maybe carlton should get involved here.... Essendon want Allan , carlton want Harford/Loats/Johnson Right? Anyways how about a 3 way deal were carlton give allan plus a pick ...bolton to the hawks .....and 2 of the 3 hawks names above to the blues? Agree or Disagree?

That was rumoured but I'm pretty sure that's not true, management denied it (I know that doesn't mean a lot these days tho!). My understanding of the deal was North sent Pick 9 to Essendon, but Pick 24 went to Hawthorn.

I still liked the deal better where Croad and Bolton both went to Hawthorn and we got Koops as well. Surely John Hook can't be serious when he says Croad isn't adequate compensation for Rawlings, but then apparently agrees to take Bolton instead.

I'm pretty sure your right about jones aswell, he just isn't signed up still, don't know whats going on there??

Dont underestimate Bolts - a let bloomer to be sure, but the boy can play. His last 2 seasons have been clearly better than Croads. He is more athletic than croad and I would think Hawthorns gain would beEssendons loss

Two points.

Bolton is NOT a better athlete than Croad. Yes, he is an athlete, yes he is a better footballer, but the only attribute Croad has worth a sh*t are his athletic capabilities.

Bolton is NOT worth picks 9, 24 whoever reported that has nuts in their head. If the Hawks go through with that we are OFFICIALLY a shambles. Make no mistake, if the deal were to go through as specified the Bombers would be the winners by a mile.

Not that I care, but Bolton is a better athlete than Croad. He is 2nd only to Hird as the fittest player at the Bombers and he was a junior sprint champ, stste I think.

Croad is athletic, but Bolton is in another league.

Very true. It's fair to say that I didn't shed a tear when Croad was traded to Freo, nor am I at all enamoured of his football ability. However, my loyality is with the Hawthorn Football Club, and if they deem fit to bring Croad back then I am prepared to back their decision. I just hope Croad proves me wrong, big time.

My loyalty is to the HFC as well. Doesn't mean I have to agree with all thinking of the HFC (especially the recruiting dept.. who I last agreed with when we got Roger Ellingworth.. and look how that turned out!! ).

We give up a first round selection for Croad, is stupid.

We give up a first round selection for Bolton, is stupid.

We give up a first round selection for Jacobs, is stupid.

We refuse to accept a really good deal of pick 9, 24 and (I think at the time) Morrell, was stupid.

Trying to get pick/s 5 or 6 from either the Dogs or Melbourne is smart. Even remotely thinking about then trading that pick away for anything other than Stevens is MONUMENTALLY stupid.

Recruiting Simon Beaumont, is stupid. *How many dud wrong side of 26 hbf's is that now over the last six years!?!*
