The Players

So that means you are either picking the wrong players or not developing them properly or not getting the most out of them. The coach has been sacked 3 times now, so I am assuming it is one of the first two, probably both.

Mark Williams would be a good coach for Melbourne for 5 years.

I feel sorry for Neeld more than anything. Whilst I appreciate that the board can't exactly come out and say "yeah we're looking at alternatives" - it must have been ridiculously tough for him to come out with these constant messages of enjoying the board's full support one week then suddenly getting shafted.
Obviously his record was very poor, but this decision reeks of scapegoat.

At least they are doing a complete change through the club, not just the coach.

Coach Gone
Ceo Gone
President Gone
Who is next?

Recruitment Staff?
Development Coaches?

If these have been at the club for a while, then they need to be replaced before this years draft.

I think a full cleanout of the Board would have been the first priority and then let the new board have some time to ponder a longer term position rather than a simple "slash and burn" mentality.

Where is any sense of stability for the playing group going to come from now?

He was actually never supported by the board at that meeting.

McLardy said that 'no statement would be made' on the coaches future.

It was only a matter of time, feel sorry for him.

Really feel sorry for Neeld, I felt that he put nothing but 100% in this job, but the players gave nothing in return. Another year another sacking it seems.

Fair enough my mistake, still it's never good to see a coach get sacked before the end of his tenure. Fingers crossed Craig is able to get more out of the current group.

There will be 17 clubs lining up for Neelds services as an assistant.

Like someone said before - take the money and move on. Take the family on a long holiday - let the manager sort out the rest. Come back on the scene in 3 months time refreshed for a new preseason with a new club.

Melbourne are beyond help from one man - Neeld was always on a hiding to nothing.

1. Ask AFL to bailout mismanaged club financially
2. Ask AFL for priority picks after tanking to receive priority picks in earlier years
3. ?????????????????
4. PROFIT!

Melbourne's woes are from perennial mismanagement, cheating\tankinmg and ruining the culture of a once proud club.
The remedy, More reward for dishonesty and poor decisions.

Absolutely disgraceful from beginning to pathetic end.

Yep. Even I as a Tiger supporter couldn't imagine the disgrace of being so woefully run that the AFL had to step in to fix your administration, while supporting you with unfair advantages (like PPs).
