So who the **** is replacing him!?!?!

All this boring idle chit-chat question asking rubbish. blah blah blah.

Who's in the gun now?!

Craig. Career is over, can't go any lower than taking this job.

Anyone who really wanted the job would ensure career suicide applying now

He looks pretty relaxed in the press conference.

Neeld, 10pm tonight...

The coach is responsible for attitude and effort, Neeld had clearly lost the players, actually I don't think he ever found them to begin with.

Dees have made the right call sacking him, I just wish they did it a week later after we played them.

F*** off. We play them after you.... :p have to wait for the week after that....

The one thing ill say is you can have all the power forwards you like but if you have a non existent midfield it's a pointless operation.

If what is being reported is true about Melbourne getting a multi-million dollar handout, part of which is to finance the sacking of Neeld, that is an absolute disgrace. The AFL should not be responsible for the mismanagement of this club and given the tanking debacle, this should have been the final straw.

Hopefully the conditions of the bailout are that all players are given the option of continuing their contract at the Demons or going into a draft-style pool, the board is dissolved, the coaches are released from their contracts, and the club is moved to Tassie or Darwin. Fresh start required.

Unlike your dispensable club which has no history or premierships... our club founded this sport and competition and for that reason, all attempts to save it should be made. Yes, we are mediocre now... but all attempts should be made to save founding clubs of the competition. Fitzroy being removed from the competition was bad enough, we can't let it happen again.

He has been thrown to the sharks, get jeffery k in! The club is a mess, the team is a joke and kids don't want to grow up supporting them. For the good of the game get it fixed!!

I think Neeld almost looks relieved. Gets payed out for next 18months, and should get another assistant coaching spot next year. Wouldn't be at all surprised to under Mick again next year

The organisation of the football industry structure is all about market and financial growth.

The actual concept of a 'sports competition' is secondary.

The AFL is the parent company and clubs are merely business units within regional markets.

It's a very cynical view of the way the sport is run now, but that's is how it is.

AFL is nothing more than a company, albeit a N4P one, concerned about market share, growth, stakeholders, brand image, etc. It's just that the interest in it is a tad greater than a bathroom accessories organisation.

This is the most relaxed I've heard Neeld for a while, probably no surprise there. He really didn't have much of a list to work with, regardless of whether he'd lost the players or not.

In that case, your tanking penalty should stand. No priority pick and add your $500K fine onto the $3M that you should pay back to the AFL if you ever get back on your feet again. Otherwise, the saying 'cheaters never prosper' might as well have never been coined.

neeld was doomed when they threw so much $$$$ at clark and dawes and getting average players in rodan and byrnes... prob could have had jessie white, a cranbury type and both the tucks for less coin and better output..

Theyd have to get someone with senior experience to take this gig.

Theres not many candidates out there. Maybe Laidley - He's a tough character. I think the price tage between him and a premiership coach like williams and roos would be large.

Melbourne just have such little leverage in negotiating a good coach, cos the job is so difficult. It'd be a huge impediment on the quality of life for whoever takes the gig.

In hindsight, was Bailey an excellent coach?

Having him heard him address a group of players, I would say yes. Always a tough gig, but I thought he was the right man for it.

Now they don't need a coach, they need paramedics.
