The Mark Neeld way

Maybe I'm getting a bit sensitive in my old age but is anyone else getting sick on Neeld's do it my way otherwise you won’t get a game and it’s all about how tough I speak approach?

Every interview or article I read or see is about how its his way no matter who you are...

I think he is just trying too hard to make a name for himself as a hard nut (similar to B.Scott)

No he is doing exactly what Melbourne needed, a hard ass with a strong defensive basis.

He is showing he has a similar style to Malthouse, which was the reason he was a. such a good coach and b. So derided by soft ***** and whingers.


If he can get some sort of buy in from that pathetic club that is Melbourne, he'll make them very very hard to beat and sadly successful

My thought before I opened the thread.

He's the Melbourne coach, so I simply don't give a shit about what he says, or does anymore.

But good luck to him, he'll need it to swim through all that tweed to fix that mess.

I think he knows Melbourne needs to get a hard ass approach and is going out of his way to address that cultural change he knows he has to bring in.

They'll be a lot better for it.

They need a new captain aswell, Brad Green isn't the answer unfortunately for him and them.

For mine I have found it odd how much of it he has said to the media. I think it's fine to be as hard as you like inside the club but as a rookie coach he may be being a little too honest with the press. Or maybe he has found the culture at Melb worse then expected and wants to jolt them a little?

Melbourne need some real cutural change and Neld seems to see it and is trying to achieve it. Good luck to him. If he has any success with the players he can start on the board & admin.

Everyone is entitled to there opinion thats what forums are for , i for one think Neeld is shooting his mouth off to early ,yes a good coach at Collingwood with what he had at his disposal but at Melbourne time will tell.

I like what Neeld is doing at Melbourne. Allot.

They have been a soft team for far too long. Discipline just isn't there. Neeld will bring results. Watts will go to a whole new level. Expect the likes of Grimes if he can stay injury free among others to also reach a new level.

Neeld will turn around the culture and make Melbourne a very, very good team.

As a senior coach would take him over Buckley frankly. No disrespect to Nathan.

Totally agree, I've been a bit surprised he's named a few players publicly for their lack of fitness and application but it's exactly what they need for results, harden them up, If they don't like it he'll move them on and brig in lads that fit.
