The matera's

If Wally had played 7(or so) more games for South Fremantle, the dockers would be able to claim him under the F/S rule, so I don't know what you guys are whinging about

Because Matera is a name associated with West Coast Eagles and Wally actually played for the club.

South Fremantle has no affiliation with the Fremantle Dockers.

We were blessed with Ben Cousins and Ash McIntosh but there was no real connection with their fathers. I could imagine Geelong would have been fairly pissed though

I still believe we were screwed...

We like all interstate teams had to have all FS elligable players play 150 games at WAFL level but the Vic clubs were allowed to have FS after 100 games at VFL level.

There should have been a Clause in the rule that states: A player traded for in the teams first season from another club could qualify his son under the FS rule as an Inaurgral player.
This rule would only allow all players that played a game in the First year (1987) to qualify as a FS pick once their child(en) comes of Draft age.

eg: Wally Matera and Murry Rances sons would have been elligable as FS picks.

All teams should have recieved this at their inception as they traded Draft picks for established players.

It would have been good to see a (Alex) Rance and (Brandon) Matera running around in the Eagles Jersey Again.

It was 150 for use and the SANFL teams because we have more teams to choose from, compare

North Melbourne players are able to pick a father/son from a player who played 100 games for the Kangaroos
West Coast are able to pick a player who played 100 games for West Coast, plus anyone who played 150 for Subiaco, Claremont, West Perth, East Perth

So we have 4 extra potential sources of players clubs from Victoria don't have, hence why the cut off was made higher for us. It makes sense and is fair seeing as we have an advantage.
