Moving your entire family between multiple different countries so that you can work with different coaches is different/unique though, and the rest of the comment that was in that article was fairly respectful. Unless there was more to the comments than what's published there (like perhaps a sarcastic tone, or other more obviously negative comments), I the only problem I'd see is that the father is/was too sensitive.

Probably but still think that its something said that shouldn't be said in public. You don't want your daughters coach saying the family could be considered as being a bit odd.

More relevant is that the father didn't want his daughter playing for the Matildas before those comments were made.

New Matildas coach will have to make some changes the central midfield for these games. Van Egmond listed as a month away with injury and Gorry with an ankle injury, both already out for the rest of the W-League season.

I suppose Kellond Knight and Logarzo can go in there with Butt and probably Chidiac.

Apparently, Heather Reid was the primary instigator at board level to get rid of Stajcic. For whatever reason, she didn't like him and pushed for the FFA to sack him.

She's subsequently been diagnosed with cancer and has had to take indefinite leave to deal with her health issues.

The twitter handle "@Rae10d" belongs to Raeanne Downer, who coached Canberra United to a premiership a few years ago.

Every State Federation has written to the FFA chairperson expressing displeasure with Stajcic's dismissal.

Apparently there are still negotiations between the FFA and Stajcic over his severance package, and he's still considering his options.

The FFA hopes to have a coach in time for the warm-up tournament in February-March.

That account is locked down at present. I wonder if it was open that she was the owner of the account or if it was a secret account whereby she could make anonymous comments (as an NBA coach got caught doing a couple of years ago iirc)

Stajcic continues to claim that he hasn't been given reasons why he was sacked by the FFA. Gallop referred to the "poor culture" but did not give Stajcic specifics or examples of poor culture. Not ruling out taking legal proceedings against the FFA.

The difficulty about the theory that Heather Reid orchestrated a sacking of Stajcic because of a long held grudge is that she would have had to convince all the other board members to go along with it and come to a stated unanimous position.

It seems several of the board members are highly qualified in the legal professions, so you would think they would also have the know-how to look at was presented as the reasons to dismiss Alen Stajcic and question it thoroughly, as well as to assess whether they were (in terms of a court challenge by Stajcic) on legally sound grounds to do.


Part of the problem is that prior to the reporting of this current crisis, stories about Women's Football didn't filter into the mainstream news that often, and so to raise the profile of the team a lot of good stories have to be put out there, and it gives the impression that everything was going along perfectly.

The reality is that the Matildas improvement in the past 4-5 years under Stajcic can be measured by their World Team Ranking moving from 10th to 6th. Its not as amazing as people think.

This writer Bonita Mersiades apparently holds some prestige amongst the SOKKAHTWITTER community as a whistleblower on the process surrounding Australia's bid to hold the 2022 World Cup, although a fact to remember is that the evidence she gave was considered unreliable.

My first encounter with her name was on the weekend the sacking of Stajcic was announced when I noted she carelessly retweeted the now proven fake news story in Perth Now about Sam Kerr being gagged by the FFA, adding another pointed comment to criticize the FFA's culture - so from the beginning I've been suspicious about her credibility in terms of thorough research and I suspect she also brings some baggage dating back to when she was sacked by Ben Buckley in 2010.

That article seems to be as much about herself than it is about anything else, and until she follow ups with the proof of emails she claims to have, that story is not so much a smoking gun, but more of a leaky water pistol.

Heather Reid comes across as a massive flog. The whole "people are only attacking me because I'm a woman" line irritates me. No, people went after the FFA after the pushing of Ange too you moron.

If players were bothered by skin folds and am increase in standards and expectations then that's on them. Bullying is not ok mind you, but this generation don't like being told what to do in a forceful manner.

If some who have come out in support actually dont believe the words they say then they're the worst type of people.

Its a disaster of epic proportions.
