It's good to see Holly McNamara back to boost our striking options. Sharn Freier was injured last week playing for Brisbane Roar and her sister Laini is a new addition. Different kind of player to her sister, more of a striker and I think is still near the top or equal on the goal scorers tally in the A League after Rd 13. Wasn't that impressed with her game on the weekend against Wellington but she did play a bit more prominent role in the 2nd half as a striker who could hold it up for other players.

Van Egmond still with the VC role. Just moved from the US to play with Birmingham City who aren't in the top league in the UK. Sermanni seems to be a fan.

Foord had a hamstring injury and came off at half time in a recent game for Arsenal. Think maybe it was last week, so depending on the severity she'll be touch and go, and usually not at her best when she's just back from injury.

Japan, Colombia & USA - can't see us getting any wins there, but a good test to see where we are at.

You're asking some hypothetical question about what would people's feelings be if the cop was black or something. Maybe start a fantasy thread.

I'm not a mod but it's going to get pretty boring if you want to turn this thread into a discussion about what racism is.

By all means talk about her position in the Matildas. I think there's a good case for a new captain because she's been injured for about 6 months prior to the 2024 World Cup and has had the ACL injury since, so she's been out of the team for a long time.

Saw there was also two standby players for this squad.

Melbourne City midfielder Leah Davidson who had a debut against Chinese Taipei in December (and scored a goal) and Grace Kuilamu, 17yo forward who has only had a handful of starts for Brisbane Roar this season, and has scored 5 goals.

She had taken a break from football from November onwards for mental health reasons, and missed the friendlies against Brazil and Taiwan last year as a result.

Sermanni was asked about why Vine wasn't selected, and he said that he'd been in contact with her and that she was not at the stage where she felt comfortable playing international football.

2nd Japan goal was a bigger balls up between Kennedy and Hunt. 0-2 Half Time.

Didn't like the reaction of Kennedy towards Hunt either. Intensity very poor particularly at the back, Japan haven't been outstanding by any stretch and we have 37% possession and no shots on goal.

If there is no change in intensity within the first five minutes bring on some kids I say.
