As Dean Rosario succinctly wrote early today:

"Conspiracy theory was: "militant women" had been waiting yrs to get rid of Stajcic & appoint a woman coach. Theory included getting 9 State Feds, PFA, 9 AL clubs to unanimously elect a female sympathiser onto FFA Board, who would then brainwash 5 others to follow blindly?"

Dean is a goose.

Dean is a goose.

He's just someone with an opinion. He comes across as a bit pious but he's right about the levels of collusion required to pull off such a stunt. It belongs in the conspiracy theory basket.

You don't know who Lynda Taylor is, and nor do the people you call "industry experts".

IS hard ah When also hero ruM doesn't attend aria awards, eating Berry and stew..

How many guesses have you had now? First people were saying it was Heather Reid or Sarah Walsh or Mary Berry or Kate Gill etc etc.

*(Also another thing that makes your latest guess unlikely is that if you look at this persons timeline of tweets she's complaining about W-League games not being shown on free to air tv - and Sarah Walsh is a FOX commentator)

This LyndaTaylor76 person has the view that Stajcic needed to be sacked. Then on the other end you have people like Rory Carroll who call Stajcic a brilliant coach - then when replying to a question today, he says he's only met Stajcic once. Both have been sending messages to players.

I'm at the point where I don't need to know any more. The new coach has to fix whatever was happening within the team because it seems there was a fracture between the players offield and they weren't performing onfield. I suspect it goes back at least to the time when the players got rid of the previous coach. Supposedly one of the reasons back then was about team selections, so it can't have been a unanimous team then either.

Stajcic got a 4 year contract back in 2016, so this "feminist mafia" that have been supposedly been trying to prevent Stajcic from working in women's football since before he was appointed Matildas coach (as Ray Gatt claims), were around back then too.

End of the day the coach had a no clause contract which allowed the FFA to pay him out. Coaches get sacked.

Best you 'don't need to know anymore' as your arrogance is rather breathtaking. Anyway, Richard Parkin from The Guardian wants to speak to you, or so I hear.

"Don't need to know any more" means that stories about the fractures between teammates, player families, players and coaches, ( "Given the accusations of favouritism and preferential treatment of certain players that began to dog the Stajcic era") don't need to be public consumption as they'll do more harm now at a time when a new coach needs to bring unity. I don't need to be a voyeur into the private details of relationships within a team - I just want to enjoy seeing them play good soccer.

Arrogance is the people who think they've got the right to abuse players on social media after they've read some bullshit said about them by idiots like Zenith_Sem and that's already happened. I've seen an example of it.

Theyll get out of the group, and comfortably.

Interesting that there's a couple of girls playing in Spain instead of the W-league like the majority of the squad
Chidiac played for AU until last year.

Heyman misses out after her woeful W League season.

Looks like the FFA did their Due Diligence when they employed Hesterine de Reus to coach the Matilda's back from 2012-2014 (rumoured to be Moya Dodd's partner at the time).

The same FFA employee Sarah Walsh that is (allegedly) calling Matilda's players at present and telling them to shut up, also got rid of de Reus from Matilda's job in 2014: https://www.couriermail.com.au/foot...s/news-story/945d0d37eae974dee274b7ad7286f23a

Kerr named as captain up until at least the end of the World Cup campaign and Catley as her vice-captain

https://www.matildas.com.au/cup-of-nations/news/kerr-catley-lead-westfield-matildas-france-2019

Good decisions. Kerr's just got to watch her temper with the refs on occasions and playing for fouls, but that's the lot of a heavily marked striker. Catley is a level headed champ who is running as hard at the end of the game as at the beginning. Both inspirational players.

Happy to see Raso back in a Matilda’s shirt, I thought she was gone after the incident in Portland.

Raso was impressive as was Chidiac when they came on but it was a flat looking performance

i disagree with making Sam captain , whilst she is our top player. like against NZ she and be heavily Marked, and further targeted for injury .
I would have made her V/C for the WC, without the added responsibility of being the capt/media stuff etc
The world cup will be tough , so i hope we get defenses in order
lets hope i am wrong

Richard Hinds made the point on Offsiders yesterday that Kerr is paid a considerable amount of money by the FFA (he mentioned it was in the order of $300,000 per year, which is why the AFLW failed in their approach to lure Kerr), and being named captain would force her to do more media events to promote the sponsors.

Let's face it, a casual fan would be hard-pressed to name any Matilda other than Kerr, so it makes sense from a branding perspective to make your best and most well-known player the captain.

I watched the game last night and I was surprised to see how well the Matildas played against a decent opponent (South Korea is currently ranked 14th, behind Australia, but well ahead of New Zealand and Argentina). Raso in particular looked quite dangerous down the right channel and created plenty of opportunities for herself and for her fellow forwards.

By contrast, her Portland teammate Carpenter was a weak point in defence and South Korea were right to attack her. From memory, Carpenter plays further up the field for Canberra United, so it wasn't surprising to see her a little vulnerable in a right back position.

If Van Egmond is going to demand that she takes all the set pieces, then she needs to improve her delivery.

It was good also to see that Milicic has some options off the bench. Ibini should go to the World Cup as the super-sub because her pace will trouble a lot of tired opponents late in games. By the same token, it will be interesting to see how Milicic juggles the options he has up front - Kerr will obviously start as the captain, but Foord and Raso both have strong claims to partner Kerr up front (assuming Milicic decides to go with two up front).
