Have the WB 2016 and Tigers 2017 provided the blue print on what a forwardline should look like? I am leaning this way One key who is mobile and with a good engine, a couple of mid size forwards and 3 short people who are all over the opposition like a cheap suit.

Its not his contested marking thats an issue, its when he's on the lead out front with "hard hands". FFS just get Pav down there during PS to work with him. He's had this problem for the last 5 yrs working with Suma, Stone and now Hale.

I hope he stays and he probably will but lets be honest if I was him I'd probably leave just based on the fact that the club was dumb enough to back in Kersten / McCarthy more than him this year.

History has shown us that if a guy doesn't have mongrel he won't just grow it. Tabs will never be the kind of guy who crashes packs. He reminds me alot of Andrew McDougall who used to play for WCE. Zero mongrel.

If a guy won't put his body on the line to crash a pack in juniors/WAFL he won't do it at AFL level. Just look at Jack Watts who looked AMAZING but has zero instinct for the physical pressures of AFL. Tabs is the same.

He has the attitude and fitness of a leading forward. Just needs to be given trust that he can go 1on1. He does crash packs and actually is pretty smart knowing if he won't win the mark, he ll try and force a ground ball/spillage to his team mates. He did that a bit throughout the WAFL/AFL season.

He sets up plays and goal chains, when he is competitive against his defender. Thought he outran and caused Rance a bit of stripe in that first quarter against Richmond.
He ll be offered. 2 year contract. Didn't get much chances for a rebuilding club. Can't see a higher placed Victorian side after him. He's settled in Perth, if I'm not mistaken.

Kersten showed nothing at Geelong in the 5 years he was there and McCarthy was unfit and didn't need to find form at all in WAFL.

It's a bit sad but that punch was the first time I thought Tabs might make it. Exactly the kind of mongrel you need from a primary KPF - and was easily his best AFL performance that day. Perhaps it should be written into his new contract?
