Draws are rare and there are only 1-3 draws per year in the regular season. Extra time in finals is uncommon with the last being in 2017. 2007 was the only other time ET was played in finals involving us

Unpopular opinion, but I'd have matches decided on goals scored. No other game in the world lets you win based on you missing the target a lot. Bad kicking is bad football. Behinds should only come into play for deciding a match if goals are level.

By this logic, Collingwood would have won comfortably last night.
By this logic, Collingwood would not have won the 2023 grand final.

The broadcasters wouldn't like it. They have the football running into the news on a Sunday. They would be dirty as if it went to extra time and it cannibalises their audience and/or the people that want to actually watch the news switch to 9 instead.

Yep and you have basically nailed it. The people who actually show the footy on TV....the Broadcasters. They would have a big say as to whether the AFL would allow extra time if scores are tied up after 4 quarters. In fact in the AFL's eyes the Broadcasters would be seen as the biggest stakeholder for this discussion.
