It’s sort of nods head
Re Parentgate
One radio news item this morning, perhaps on legal advice, now says AFL parents, AFL players and AFL club - no mention of Port.

Yeah the asterisk stuff is silly.

2016 bullflogs win with probably the most biased umpiring in the history of the game

2007/9/11 cats win with two convicted drug cheats in senior roles

1998 cows finish 5th and lose their first final and win

1905 collingwood win in a 4 team comp (or similar)

Lots of flags are silly to put in the same realm as others. All that matters is winning it.
Interesting how the only people who are downplaying the significance of this year's flag are those whose teams have been knocked out. I think it's called sour grapes.

For those of you with Fox Footy, tomorrow's Open Mike at 8pm, will be dedicated to 150 yrs of Port Adelaide with Russell Ebert 😍

Get ready for 55 minutes of Sheahan wanting talk about Kevin Sheedy coming to town to lure a young Gavin Wanganeen to the Dons.

And those Vic teams that havent been knocked out are laying the groundwork in case they lose, with the regular "Ah, but they got to sleep in their own beds" line!

What about the "if you're good enough you can win anywhere, any time" line?

And why couldn't port power toughen up Mark Dawson?
And you've changed your jumper so many times why do the prisoner barbs even mean anything?
And the snoofl was always inferior,
And your player retention was awful cos all the good players cam to MALBUN anyway,
And etc etc etc

But heard Dwayne Russell saying that exact same thing on SEN today.
Such an advantage over 4am wake up calls to fly to Qld, play a game and return the same day.
Pampered pussies those interstate clubs.

And their families in the hubs that our players didn’t have.

I think we are all a bit tired of the Vic bias and sooking.

There is only one club in the finals with a decided advantage, and that is the Lions.

Never hubbed, hardly left Qld and all finals including the GF at the Gabba.

Great article about Zak Butters just went up on the Herald Sun site.

Paywall obviously.

Emotions.

"Butters is a unique young man. He’s 20, looks 17 and talks like he’s 30, with a genuine warmth and from the heart."

Who gives a sh*t about this bullshit 'asterisk'. I reckon this flag means more, regardless of who wins it.
Nobody says there was an asterisk in 1916 when there were just 4 teams and Fitzroy won the wooden spoon and flag in the same year, or 1917 when there were only 6 teams and Collingwood won the flag.

North American pro sports seasons have been shortened by strikes / lockouts and nobody says those championships wins after shortened seasons have an asterisk.

* 1981 over 700 games of MLB season were cancelled and the regular 162 game season per team was cut back to between 103 to 111 games before the postseason, because not everyone could play the equal number of games before the post season started. The Dodgers beat the Yankees - never heard anyone say that doesn't count.

The 1994 and 1995 MLB seasons were affected by a strike. 1994 season was cancelled after teams had played between 112-117 games and 1995 season started a month late and only 144 games instead of 162 were played.

* 1982 NFL season had an 8 week strike and the regular season was reduced from 16 games to 9.
* 1987 only one game was lost from the season but a couple were played with replacement players

* 1994-95 NHL season had a strike and the 80 game regular season was reduced to 48 games
* 2004-05 NHL season lockout saw the whole season cancelled
* 2012-13 NHL season lockout saw the regular season again reduced from 80 games to 48 games

* 1998-99 NBA season lockout when regular season was reduced from 82 games to 50 games.
* 2011-12 NBA season lockout when regular season was reduced from 82 games to 66 games.

An asterisk deliberately used above.

The Olympics have been boycotted by African nations in 1976 Montreal re some countries attending have played against South Africa, 1980 Moscow the USA led boycott by western nations, 1984 LA the Soviet Union led eastern Bloc nations boycotts, nobody says to Aussie gold/silver/bronze medalist from those 3 Olympics, oh that gold/silver/bronze medal(s) you won has an asterisk next to it.
