NUFC, YES.
So apparently Graam claimed on 5AA last night that our draft tampering - paying the likes of Warren Tredrea, Peter Burgoyne and Michael Wilson to stand out of the draft after it became clear our approved 1996 AFL entry would be delayed by 12 months due to the Fitzroy kerfuffle - was worse than what Trigg and Reid have done vis-a-vis Tippett.

Yes, offering additional financial benefit to a trio of existing Port Adelaide players to stay the extra year required to qualify for the sole recruitment window we had access to - a sort of SANFL Player Retention Scheme if you will - was worse than paying a player secret money outside the salary cap in a deal that the Crows repeatedly denied the existence of.

The Agent Orange has f**ked with your head.

No but tribey it's different because it's Port.

You see my fine fetlocked friend Wrinkles is in your stereotypical Kubler-Ross Five Stages of Grief.

He has gone through each stage in order, so far, and we hope he reaches acceptance before his or the Camrys death.

Denial - "We've done nothing wrong, it was Tippett"
Anger - "Victorians, bloody Victorians"
Bargaining - ***This where we are currently - punish Pr0ts, punish Melbourne, I'll do anything if you don't punish my Camrys***
Depression - Can't wait for this.
Acceptance - ???

Wrinkles being so pigheaded may never publicly acknowledge the last stage but just after the tears dry in the horrid crevices of that disgusting dog chewed face we'll know the depression is over and acceptance is in.

Of course it was. So was the Player Retirement "Retention" Scheme. SANFL needs a big retrospective fine.

How about Neil Kerley telling Gavin Wanganeen to not go to Essendon and that the Crows would pick him up the following year...... is there any difference other than Gavin not being able to decypher Neil's gravelly tones.

So apparently now The Age is reporting the existence of some sort of re-worded letter as the Crows deliberately attempted to cover their tracks?
Isn't amazing that in a town like Adelaide, with its almost incestuous football community, where almost everyone talks to each other, and where rumours have been rife for a couple of years about some sort of secret "deal" involved with Kurt Tippett's contract, not one single "journalist" chose to actually investigate such a potentially explosive story.
Instead, it took Emma Quayle, an actual "journalist", in another city, and without any particular insider info, to do a little digging and come up with this.
The cosy relationships between a certain "club" and it's media lackey's in this town are a disgrace. You should all be hanging your heads in shame you frauds.

While not surprised, I'm actually quite astounded at the sheer audacity of the media apologists for the Crows over this Tippet issue.
As Finbarr said, why has no journalist here picked up on this story for over two years?
Why are they not being critical of the deal now?
Why are they not questioning the governance of AFC over this?

All we get is soft, wishy-washy, excuses and deflections on what is a blatant attempt to cheat the salary cap. The fact that they didn't even NEED to do it just makes it laughable but no less outside the rules. Their claim that 'they've done the right thing' by coming clean to the AFL is just pathetic.

Where's Rucci on this? Surely this is bigger than Primus' treatment at Port?

It doesn't matter that he is not here - his piece will not be investigative journalism - that's all past his abilities - all we would read are opinions, shaped by his need to bow to the might of the hybrids and to satisfy the Adelaide old boys club.

Tredrea, Wilbur and P. Burger weren't in the AFL system so its totally irrelevant. No different to the player retention scheme or a country club paying big money to keep players from going to the big smoke. Did Cornes mention the Chalmers scenario? Brett copped a 50k fine back in 92 from memory for stating he would only go to Collingwood. Cornes always makes his mind up and THEN thinks of ways to validate his decision . Should be the other way around dopey.

Francou was what...22 or 23 at the time wasnt he? Did we pay him for 5 years?

It says a lot that the Adelaide media have essentially pushed this under the rug. All you have to say is.....imagine if it was us!

It's rather embarrassing. No wonder South Australia has a bad rep.
Until we can get some media people who are not up the a*ses of the adelaide old boys club and have enough integrity we are forever doomed to be looked on like a pissantville and the laughing stock state..

I wish *someone* in the media here would grow a pair and stop licking balls for a change.
Maybe they have got so used to the taste of old-boy-backside they have forgotten what freedom tastes like?

What we have done is a joke.
And the way the media didnt investigate the issues 2 years ago is a disgrace.
Now the lack of backbone shown by the board of the AFC is very disappointing. (I'm just hoping that they are waiting to see the findings and the punishment before swining the axe)

I think you guys are underestimating the 96 deals though. They were very underhanded and deserved a severe punishment as well.
On face value, the paying of those players in 96 was much worse then having 3rd party agreements and an out clause in a contract.
However the constant lying by the AFC over the past 3 years makes ours now much worse. Where as you guys pretty much said, yep, we've found a loop hole. Come at me bro, its worth it. Respect

Hey whatever you need to tell yourself to cope and help you sleep at night lol

As a Crows supporters surely you'd be just baffled as to why they even did it in the first place when there was no need to with cap room etc... it's just astonishingly stupid!

Classic diversion.

Totally different situation, we weren't even in the draft to rig it.

I like how you just quoted the first paragraph, not the part when i said overall ours is much worse. :thumbsu:

Yes i agree. Stupid, been saying it all along. Trigg has to go. Second worst CEO in the AFL ;) even before this. The club has taken a nose dive with him at the helm.

You did still rig it though. Even without being in it. Just ask Bucky Cunningham
But you can't be punished for something you aren't a part of.

Your club are not only cheats but they are dumb cheats. Exploiting a loophole is not cheating. BREAKING RULES IS.
