Who really cares if the media give the crows a bit of credit for getting into the eight? They're playing alright at the moment, just let it go. Of course they're going to be getting some decent press. That's just how it works.
You say this as if it is new. The media has not changed from blowing smoke up their arse when they were losing

Yeah, I agree. They've had a few good wins and the more smoke that gets blown up their arses the better. I don't think a solid away win against another side fighting for 7th or 8th is a bad effort at all. We just lost to Richmond.

Do we exist in adelaide at the moment?... Crows interview after interview after interview on 5aa... I don't normally tune in to these dickheads online but just wanted to see how the guys are training..what a joke
Just don't listen to them!!! Port hasn't played for 9 days, and the Crows have just beaten the premiership favourites (TIC), so what do you expect???

Well let them blow it, I say. And IF they grab 8th spot, and IF we remain in 5th, let them all talk it up as their "dream final", and let them all duck for cover when they get smashed.

The crows are playing pretty decent football at the moment, it has to be said. They can be pretty dangerous when firing. But you'd think they're using every last one of their petrol tickets just to get to the finals, whereas our early season form allowed us to manage our list a little more. Sure, we've had some poor losses the past few weeks meaning things haven't gone exactly to plan, but when players have had niggles we've generally been able to rest them. They'd give anything to have been in a position to give Dangerfield a rest over the past month or two, but they couldn't afford to. Whereas we've been able to give someone like Bobby plenty of time to heal and still be in the hunt for top 4. I'll bet if we were in their precarious position Carlile would've been rushed back at least for the Melbourne game. This is where the top sides have an advantage over the lower teams going into a final.

Seems pretty likely, finbarr. Although if I were them I'd be a bit more concerned about Thompson. He and Jacobs are the real engine room. Dangerfield does sometimes come off the field limping but some "injuries" seem to be thought up by the media to spread the rumour of some kind of superman who plays through pain.

Speaking of dream finals I heard some crows supporter in the lift today telling a mate that if it is a Port v Crows final it's a home state final so both clubs' members get equal access to tickets the moment they go on sale.

Exactly. Pulling Thompson out prior to the Collingwood game was an absolute last minute decision, giving him every opportunity to prove his fitness. If they were in our position he'd have been ruled out on the Monday.

I think he's right. From memory the '05 showdown final saw tickets go on sale to crows gold and Port Platinum members at the same time. Then the next day they were available for each club's second tier members to buy. Something about tickets being allocated per percentage of members per club. Essentially we'd lose home game rights with a Port v crows final.

Yep that's my memory/understanding as well. There's no such thing as a "home" final in ticketing terms.

Surely the allocations would be different though and more reflective of who's home game it is before tickets go on general sale.

Unless it's changed that's unfortunately how it works. If it were me running the show Port Black Diamond, Platinum, and Silver members would have at least a day to secure tickets before the crows got a look in. All I can remember was that in '05 I was lining up and getting tickets on the first morning of sale.

Should I apologise for calling him a ****ing idiot or a campaigner first? :D

So we pretty much must secure a top 4 spot if we want to ensure a genuine 'home' final. Unless of course we meet the crows in the second week.
Prelim Finals aren't played in the second week. :p

Agree. Instead of tightening up on Talia for the WCE game, they will give Cloak a free kick every time we breathe on him.
Talia is a fifty backman. Not in a Ty Vickery way but he manhandles his opponent more than any other backman. I hope the umps start to notice him more.

Fair point. I was deliberately thinking of worst case scenarios.

It's also quite possible we could beat Freo in round 23, bumping them to fifth, and setting up a crows trip to Perth in week one.

Thinking more about it, I reckon you're right. Home final is more about venue than tickets.
