It looks good for Port, we just need Gold Coast to hold up their end and lose him in the NEAFL for another year.
It's actually worked out ok for us, chances are he wasn't going to get much game time with us this way he can play the 10 or so games & get some more AFL development into him then come to us cheaper next year because he'll be out of contract along with Sam Day I might add, would be a nice combo to pick up.

True, if we do get him next year he will have played more AFL games than he would have with us.

If it wasn't before, then it is now official that Andrew "Dutch" Capel is a total d***head when it comes to football. Although he gave us an A+ for the trade period, mainly on the back of getting Paddy Ryder and the cows a C due to nothing but 2 last minute third-choice trades, he has given Collingwood a C, the same kind of grade that most of the teams that weren't in the draft got. They lost Beams, a top young player but they got at least his worth and were able to replace him with one of last years best in Levi Greenwood. They lost Heritier Lumumba who wanted to go and got a good player in Varcoe from Geelong. On top of that they kept the first-round pick they are using on F/S but got another for one of this years crop.
They're maybe not A+ but I would give them B+ or A-.
He also gave the bummers B-. Looking at what was going to happen I would say they were worth B or even B+. At least it was kept out of the grievance tribunal and they didn't come away with nothing.

cRowie "this is Ken mk2 , ken mk2"

They better hope Walsh lives up to this expectation or there will be massive tears.
There is only one Ken, and he has proved himself in not only the AFL but has coached premierships as head coach in other leagues.
Walsh has done neither, He could turn out to be Brendan McCartney Mk2.

So Stupid admits that the Cows are trying to copy Port.

"We (the Power) set ourselves to emulate the good, solid clubs of the AFL like Geelong and Hawthorn. Apparently, the Crows want to be like (Port Adelaide).”

They are certainly making all the noises like Port. Making the noises like Port and delivering like Port is totally different. Time will tell about how things pan out. Walsh will want quick success, and only the luck of the draw against low level sides early in his career will do that. Anyway, I am far more interested in what we do.

Not sure if that was directed at me wr but I lived in Sydney, north, east and west suburbs all up for 15 years between 1992-2010 - the rest in SE Queensland.

When the AFL said they were going to put a side in western sydney I told D_One, and I think I even posted it on the main board, that there is only one nickname for a western sydney team that is relevant to the 1.8 million people who live in the 14 councils and that would be Traffic. The Greater Western Sydney Traffic would have been a catchy name IMHO. Traffic over Sydney, but especially Western Sydney is diabolical. Shit planning caused that and its why people dont travel to watch their NRL teams in large numbers. Ok having 2 city/near city based stadiums in Melbourne helps boost the numbers for the AFL but pre Docklands days Vic/Melbourne people traveled to watch their team - home and away - so much more than Sydney.

Plus the great weather in winter time and the habour means there are so many other things you can in June/July/August than go watch a footy game.

COLA is needed at the bottom end of the scale, but players on $500k+ (even $300k) dont need it. The guys getting the big $$$ set themselves up in the eastern suburbs and hardly have to leave a 10-15 km radius from their - mainly when they have to play out Homebusch, and they get a lifestyle they wouldnt be able to get in Melbourne. How many AFL footballers in Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide can have surf in the morning for an hour before they head off to work and drive 10 minutes from Bondi and Bronte and 15 from Marouba. Plus there are other advantages in Sin City close to town that other cities dont offer - or offer as regularly.

I said from day 1 when the AFL said they were going to put a second side in Sydney that setting up the GWS in Blacktown was rubbish. No 18 year old would want to live there if he got decent money. Wrote about that on the main board and got criticized. Great idea whoever came up with it to set the GWS guys up at the decade old suburb of Breakfast Point - in a US College type set up - right on the harbour - right on the edge of what is called inner western Sydney - 15 kms from town, 20kms from the beach, 3 kms to work at Sydney Olympic Park and 25 kms away from Blacktown.
Noone beats the traffic. LOL

So leather face reckons Voss won't fill the void of Walsh? I thank Walsh for his contribution, particularly during the early 2000's but his work this year is a little bit overrated. When you look back on the season i think the midfield work, clearances in particular, is an area we really need to work on.

I don't think I've heard such stupidity as I have surrounding the Western Bulldogs trade week. Past-their-used-by-date pundits getting their knickers in a twist about WB trading a 29 year old who didn't want to be there for a 12-year blue chip KPF prospect, truly the most rare and valuable commodity in AFL football.

In addition, completely ignoring the impact of GWS' draft concessions and their impact on contracts and player movement in free agency and trades (ie with so many high rated prospects, some were bound to want out, the clubs that missed out on players they otherwise would have drafted would always have had these players in the crosshairs).

If they held onto Bmac I would be seriously commending their work but a new coach may set them back. In any case getting that blue chip KPF prospect is the best possible outcome for your contracted captain wanting out. They did decent all things considered.

Scenario 1 : The cows trade for Paddy Ryder, front and back pages of the tiser the next day is covered with his face.

Scenario 2 : Port get Paddy Ryder, 1 square inch on the front page, 1 quarter of the back page and a column inside the back.
