I want to know how the **** can the fixture have us play Sydney twice before the Crows even play them once in round 18. Seriously please explain the crap fixturing.
It's known as "flying by the seat of your pants". Basically, with derbies, showdowns, blockbusters and now the 666 draw, some games can only be scheduled where there is an available space and not where it would be best to have them. Once the draw has been made in that way it is very difficult to change games. It is not just a matter of changing ther18 game with say Sydney v Carlton in r9. Then what do you do with Carlton's r18 game? And also their scheduled opponents for r18, North Melbourne.
This has happened in other years, the first time I recall it being brought up in the media was 2013 when Geelong had played Hawthorn twice by r15 and some teams had not played one of them till later.
These were:
Adelaide did not play Geelong till r17
Essendon did not play Hawthorn till r18
Melbourne did not play Geelong till r16
Port did not play Hawthorn till r16
Richmond did not play Hawthorn till r19
St Kilda did not play Geelong until r18 or Hawthorn till r20
West Coast did not play Geelong till r21
Western Bulldogs did not play Hawthorn till round 17
It probably happened as well last year as well.
