They were great against North but didn't look all that flash against a weakened Collingwood side, I'm not sold that they're as good as they're talked up yet unfortunately we've got to wait until mid season until they take on a decent opponent.

Written us off already huh? (R5)

Definitely not but I meant a test that isn't a 50/50 home derby match.

I think the Dogs could push them next week but having a look at their draw it's easier than when they finished top 4 in 2012, plenty of easy double ups & they play all their tough opponents at home.

Gil's boys. Simple as that - Gill has given them a draw that would befitting a side that had finished bottom four for the last 4 years. Even after they finished fourth in 2012 - Gill still managed to squeeze them in for four double-up game against the previous years bottom 6.

I am not doubting or questioning their form but they have been given three months of practice matches and allowed to play for premiership points!
I don't see the major problem.
To be honest if you think about it having a soft draw is not ideal. Who challenges you to improve and push harder?
I'd rather we have tough fixtures every year, because then we can measure our selves against the other top teams. If we never play them, and we never beat them, or give them a good run for their money, then how are we going to surpass them?

Let the Camrys keep their soft draws. They'll scrape into finals and then be blown away. False confidence and all that, thinking they are better then they actually are.

We know we are one of the top four teams. We know because we've played the top teams, beat them, and when we haven't we've been competitive almost always.(obvioulsy I'm talking about the Hinkley era here now).

The Crows think they are good because they beat weak opposition. Then when they get their asses handed to them by the top teams they complain about umpire bias and other nonsense that only crows supporters could think of.

I've got a sneaky feeling Melbourne could be a chance this week, told a few Crowie mates that are over confident that it could be a danger game for them based on a number of factors.

Roos gameplan matches ours/theirs well, they beat them at AO last year & perhaps the biggest one for me is that the Dees tall forwards (Hogan, Dawes, Watts) could really pick apart their backline (lost Cheney as well) if they get enough midfield supply.
Yeah they'll back themselves in after the upset last year but in reality they should get thumped if Adelaide are serious.

As much as I'd love to see the Dees win, I would be stunned if the crows don't give them an absolute bath. I don't think you could get any more of a sure thing than this match.

NUFC, YES.

It'll be fascinating.

Melbourne choked the life out of GWS' fearsome midfield for a half before dropping right off - if they keep their shit together it could be a real tussle.

But if Stephen Rowe's favourite team come out of the gate they could win by 80+.

The cowvertiser tipsters aren't doing too well. Including blokes like Ricciuto, McDermott, Tredrea as well as the journalists and people from sundry other sports. Best after 2 rounds has 12/18 with some having as low as 9. As always they showed they can't spell by describing Essendon's win over the Hawks as a win over the reining premiers instead of reigning premiers.
Neither the Power tipping on the portadelaidefc website or the Port Adelaide BF tipping is very good either with the best being 14. Three of the teams that have probably surprised the most have been GWS and Western Bulldogs, both doing better than expected and GCS who are doing worse than expected.

It's not that it hasn't been very good, more that there were a lot of upsets. 14 is fantastic tipping all things considered.

Probably should have qualified that a bit, I was more pointing out how difficult the first two weeks has been more than anything else. Yes, you're right although in hindsight I wouldn't call some of them upsets. Essendon v Hawthorn was but Geelong v Freo was 50/50 and WB seem to be better than most people expected. Ablett's injury was obviously worse than most people expected, GWS are finally getting somewhere for the promise they have shown and St Kilda aren't as bad as we thought. Those who have 14 would be the ones who were prepared to take a punt and I would be surprised if the people at the top of the boards get 2 tips incorrect every week from now on.

I see Ricciuto is tipping north Melbourne over Port this weekend, this is the same guy that banged on all summer and pre season that we were cherry ripe for the flag. I question his motives behind all his Port praise, definitely seemed like a deliberate tactic to heap pressure on Port. You only have to listen to his commentary of the NAB cup game between Port and Crows, it was bizarre the Crows kingmaker rattling on about how amazingly good Port were even though we were getting well beaten and as if it was just a matter of turning up to games in order for us to win the flag. It reminded me of those 2002-2004 days where all season Crows fans would say how overrated we were and then as soon as the round 22 completed it was the complete opposite of "Port are a certainties for the flag now, they are flying, no one will stop them unless they choke".

Listening to 5AA just then with the 3AW crew getting ready for tonight and As they are talking about winning flags and rebuilding Caro says "The Hawks pinched one in 2008".

Then Tony Shaw goes...... "Port pinched one as well.".......

O.......... M.......... G.........

3 Minor premierships wasn't enough to earn his respect obviously.
