goodness me
"Led by a rejuvenated Jake Stringer, Essendon will challenge for a place in the Grand Final. But at the other end of the scale, Port Adelaide will struggle to reach September."

"But at Port, Jack Watts and Steven Motlop will again struggle to find their rhythm as the club’s high-risk, high-reward recruits fail to gel as quickly as Ken Hinkley might have liked."
Essendon have gone down the traditional route in terms of their setup, so it’s easy for reporters to pick them and Adelaide (who play the same style) to play in a GF.

The reason for this is simple. They don’t understand how the game could be played the way that Richmond did this year, so they think it’s just a trick and it will be “found out” by teams playing the only way they understand.

In short, they want Essendon to do well and Port to suck because if it goes the other way it will mean they know absolutely nothing about modern football.

Which they don’t.

Essendon will be Etihad specialists and do **** all elsewhere
I'd agree with this, except for the part where everyone said the Bulldogs were exactly this. Yet somehow the AFL still manage to gift them a premiership.

I'm expecting a wash, rinse, repeat with the darling bombers in 2018.

I'm looking forward to Blight's discussion of how Van Allen belt radiation affects the right to left rotation of torpedo punts by left footers at the MCG vs at Adelaide Oval and how whether footballs are stitched in the morning or evening determines the angle of descent over the final 5 metres of shots at goal in night games.
Good luck with that, Kane. :p
Blight will nearly certainly have some Eric Cantona-like moments. While I doubt if he'll go so far as comparing footballers to seagulls and the football to sardines, he will be interesting to listen to.

So on what basis is Jake Stringer ‘rejuvenated’ but Jack Watts and Steven Motlop will struggle to find their rhythm? Have we seen either of them play any games for their new club to justify these hot takes? Anyone?

Note that the article doesn’t even acknowledge the existence of 2-time B&F winner and former All-Australian Tom Rockliff. Note also that the article later on has the addition of Gibbs leading the Crows to a flag without so much of a passing mention of the losses of Lever, Smith and Cameron.

It both amazes and concerns me deeply, that "The Advertiser" expresses an anti Christian attitude when it feels like it, but chooses to use the word "Messiah" to suit any purpose it chooses.

"Messiah" is the title bestowed on Jesus the Son of God and means anointed one.

Malcolm Blight was a great coach but he is not the Messiah."That title is strictly reserved for the only "Messiah."

In other news..our Kane continues to impress, apparently (still it's nice to have a Port boy in the Melbourne media)

It's believed South Australian Kane Cornes, who's become an increasingly impactful commentator in recent times, is also set to contribute to Footy Classified as an alternate panelist when other hosts aren't available.

One of the author’s is probably the AFLTradeWhisperer, who currently has Tom Rockliff being put through his paces at Carlton pre-season training.

I can see this happening every time after a Port loss, someone on the panel will 'become unavailable'

I suspect Blight will be calling the footy/special comments for both 5AA and Croc media's Footy Nation like Cornes and Hart do

So Blighty got an offer too interesting to refuse. Hutchy is a better operator than that dropkick Butterss. Couldn't get behind the paywall on my phone before.

....but said he’d been thinking for several months about returning to live in Adelaide, where the couple still have plenty of family and friends. “The planets didn’t quite align, I had commitments in Queensland... that was about two to three months ago,” he said. “Then it was just that phone call that came out of the blue and I thought, ‘Oh wow, this is interesting’. It just all worked out. “We’ve been back so often over the years, it’s still our home,” Blight said. “A lot of her (Patsy’s) family are still here and so are mine. We’re just part of South Australia. “It’s where a lot of our old friends are. We’ve kept in contact with a lot of them.

And he will be working on the radio footy coverage for his first time on radio.
Blight will co-host FIVEaa and Crocmedia’s weeknight Sportsday SA radio show from January 15, replacing new Crows’ assistant coach Ben Hart, and will also help with the station’s 2018 AFL coverage. While Blight has years of media experience as a commentator on TV and in print, this will be his first regular role on radio. “To actually do a radio show, I’ve never done that, so that’s half-intriguing,

Shit completely forget that CrocMedia want to takeover or merge with SEN. Hutchy ( and Dr Turf in the background) is becoming a mini media mogul via his footy and sports activities. Smart move to start with radio and internet stuff like Traderadio. Its a lot cheaper and the barriers to entry are smaller. 10 years time he might have a sports pay TV channel if he doesn't take one over.
